These 16 Star-Studded Posters Make The Expendables 3 Seem Strangely Compelling

The Expendables film series, helmed by Sylvester Stallone and cast to the verge of exploding with his fellow action stars, has never been all that approachable to casual fans who don't feel "in on the joke."

But this new poster series teasing the summer sequel, third in the franchise, is surprisingly charming and does a good job highlighting a roster of stars so bizarrely diverse, you almost feel compelled to see what they're doing in the same movie.

Kelsey Grammer? Mel Gibson? Harrison Ford? It's like if Robert Altman had decided to make a movie about biceps, shotguns and motorcycles. I might just have to see this one … or at least wait five minutes after it leaves theaters for it to show up on Netflix.

Dad Obsessed With Indie Movies Tells His Girl the World’s Worst Bedtime Story

From the folks who brought you "Mandible," perhaps the most twisted film-festival promo in history, comes a sequel that's also messed up—if less visually gruesome.

RPA and Tool's new spot for the 15th anniversary of the Newport Beach Film Festival (taking place April 24 to May 1) tells the memorably off-kilter tale of a father who tells his daughter an extremely disturbing betime story.

The two-minute-plus clip takes place entirely in her bedroom, and David Theune excels in his role—with his animated, increasingly intense storytelling, rather than movie clips, carrying the day.

He begins predictably enough—"One upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who lived in a magical castle far far away"—but quickly changes gears. Weaving together plot points from indie classics Her, Memento and Pulp Fiction—and they mesh pretty seamlessly—his narrative peaks with an enthusiastic riff on the wood-chipper scene from Fargo. (The reason for his obsession is revealed in the final frames.)

The girl's out like a light. Probably fainted. Sweet dreams!

Kevin Costner’s New Spy Movie Reimagined to Star NFL Wide Receivers

Check out this promo for Kevin Costner’s new movie, 3 Days to Kill, reimagined in a dream sequence to star Pro Bowl NFL wide receivers Dez Bryant, Michael Crabtree and Alshon Jeffery.

The somewhat silly setup has them imagining themselves as action stars in the movie, but the surprise is that they actually might have been amazing in it. I would watch a movie staring these dudes over 3 Days to Kill anyday.

The stunts were choreographed by Action Factory and led by Eric Linden to mimic actual football plays. In order to capture it all, agency Portal A mounted a Steadicam on a Segway, but even at full speed they couldn't keep up with the athletes, so they had to force them to slow down.

At the end of the spot, you can also glimpse SportsCenter's Stan Verrett, who interrupts their dream with a fatty, fatty pizza and sack of takeout that these guys probably never would allow themselves to eat.

In a charming aside, director Kai Hasson tells us that between takes the players amused themselves by playing Madden 2014 … as themselves.
