Arnold Schwarzenegger Re-creates Terminator 2's Bar Fight Scene for Video Game Ad

“I need your clothes. Your boots. And your motorcycle.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger really needs some new material. A quarter-century after walking naked into a seedy bar and uttering that famous line in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Arnie’s still sizing up biker-dive patrons with his robo-vision and ordering folks to strip down and surrender their modes of transportation.

Here, the action-movie icon re-enacts that memorable scene in a fun spot for game maker 2K promoting its upcoming WWE 2K16 title. in which Schwarzenegger’s Terminator is a playable character for fans who pre-order.

“It’s a nerd’s dream: a painstaking recreation of a classic film with a relevant twist to the cast,” says Pete Harvey, creative director at barrettSF, which made the spot. “Our hope is that people pull up this scene with the original to compare what stayed absolutely consistent and what subtly changed.”

The most obvious change is the supporting cast, with real-life WWE stars such as Eva Marie, Daniel Bryan and Finn Bálor playing barflies and waitstaff. (Dean Ambrose is so going to wish he’d used an ashtray to put out that cigar.) There is no sign of Hulk Hogan—and I have a feeling he won’t be baaack anytime soon.

Also, in the cinematic original, Schwarzenegger was a sculpted god whose body epitomized muscly manhood, even if he was all transistors underneath. Today, though still in good shape, Arnie looks more like an aging, confused ex-governor of California, searching in vain for a bill he can veto.

Vitro, Google Techs Turn On ‘Terminator Vision’ for Red Robin

rr_terminatorRed Robin is apparently going all-in with its cross-promotion efforts for Terminator: Genisys, which hits theaters July 1 and marks Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s return to the franchise that made his career.

Not only has Red Robin unveiled its monstrous Genisys Burger this month, but the chain has also enlisted the services of Vitro, its creative agency since 2013, and a team of Google engineers who in turn have given the display ad as we know it a Terminator-styled makeover.

The above demo clip featuring Red Robin pitchwoman “Melanie” hints at the fact that “Terminator Vision” initially looks like your average display ad unit until you go to this dedicated site, enter the unique URL provided into your mobile browser (no app necessary) and eventually unlock a rich media system developed by Google engineers.

It was admittedly a bit shaky on first try, and Melanie’s nonstop chatter can be grating, but Terminator Vision cleverly picks up on the latter as you see the world through the T-800’s eyes.

The machines, in this case, have become self-aware–but even more importantly, they’ve alleviated the usual banner ad boredom…for a moment, at least.

BWM Taps Schwarzenegger for Realestate.com.au

BWM, Melbourne tapped Arnold Schwarzenegger in their latest campaign for Realestate.com.au.

In the spot, Arnold decides to move back to Austria, mistaking Australia’s .au for his birth country. His assistant tries to inform him of his error, but Arnold is too excited over the possibilities he’s found on the site and tells his assistant to book him some inspections while leaving the filming of his current movie to his “double.” While its humor doesn’t quite hit its mark, it’s refreshing to see Arnold still willing to play on his persona, and make himself seem ridiculous in the process. And Arnold’s star power should certainly get people’s attention. Stick around for credits after the jump. (more…)

These 16 Star-Studded Posters Make The Expendables 3 Seem Strangely Compelling

The Expendables film series, helmed by Sylvester Stallone and cast to the verge of exploding with his fellow action stars, has never been all that approachable to casual fans who don't feel "in on the joke."

But this new poster series teasing the summer sequel, third in the franchise, is surprisingly charming and does a good job highlighting a roster of stars so bizarrely diverse, you almost feel compelled to see what they're doing in the same movie.

Kelsey Grammer? Mel Gibson? Harrison Ford? It's like if Robert Altman had decided to make a movie about biceps, shotguns and motorcycles. I might just have to see this one … or at least wait five minutes after it leaves theaters for it to show up on Netflix.

Arnold Wants You to Drive Around in His New Tank, Crushing Stuff for Charity

Arnold Schwarzenegger has finally achieved his lifelong dream. No, it's not becoming a champion weight lifter/action hero/governator. It's his dream of owning his own "f–king tank."

Since it's only natural for a man who has been blowing things up since 1979 to want to pulverize things with his new toy, he's inviting you and a friend to join him.

In an effort to raise money for the After-School All-Stars program, the Terminator has created an instantly viral video offering you the opportunity to "come to L.A. and crush things in my tank!" Crush anything you want: pianos, taxis, bubble wrap. Hell, he'll even crush movies that make you cry. Wait, does Terminator 3 count?

Here's a clip of Arnold reminiscing about his tank time in the Austrian Army:

Arnold Schwarzenegger Goes Undercover at Gold’s Gym in Amusing Charity Video

Given the rough few years he's had lately, it's not surprising Arnold Schwarzenegger might want to be someone else for a while. He's making a habit of it, anyway.

The Governator, who looked hilarious in a Bjorn Borg getup for Bud Light's Super Bowl teaser, dons another disguise in a different video, going undercover as an employee at Gold's Gym in Venice, Calif., to draw attention to his After-School All-Stars program.

Schwarzenegger famously worked out at the same Gold's Gym in his bodybuilding glory days of the '70s. In the new video, Arnold, aka "Howard," is comically awkward as he strolls around the gym, bothering the patrons, many of whom clearly do a double-take.

It's pretty funny stuff, and has gotten well over a million views in its first day on YouTube. It seems a little odd that there's no big reveal at the end, à la Jeff Gordon's Pepsi MAX spot, where Schwarzenegger could take off the disguise and delight everybody. Instead, it just ends. On the upside, Gold's might have a new tagline thanks to Arnold's ad-libbing.

Say it with me, in Arnold-speak: "This is Gold's Gym. It's not a baby gym."

Hat tip to @arrrzzz.

Bud Light Teases Super Bowl Ads With Arnold, Reggie Watts, Don Cheadle

Just a day after we learned that Arnold Schwarzenegger would appear in one of Bud Light's Super Bowl ads, Anheuser-Busch InBev has released six teaser clips for the celebrity-stacked spots.

The ads appear to be the results of a massive stunt organized by the brand and agency BBDO, which used 412 actors and a lot of hidden cameras to create an unforgettable night for one unsuspecting beer drinker. Schwarzenegger, Don Cheadle and innovative musician Reggie Watts all make appearances in the evening's events, as does an as-yet-unnamed female celebrity. Oh, and a llama.

Check out the previews below, and be sure to check Adweek's Super Bowl Ad Tracker for ongoing updates about this year's game-day spots.

YouTube estreia Comedy Week
