Tierney Shares ‘Human Truths’ for TD Bank

Philadelphia-based agency Tierney just launched the follow-up to their “Bank Human” campaign for TD Bank,  with “Human Truths.”

“Human Truths” follows much the same vein as “Bank Human,” with four new, 30-second spots each pointing out a flaw with the inhumanity of most banks, and then positioning TD as the alternative. If you caught any of the “Bank Human” spots you know what to expect: someone enters a bland, generic looking bank with a problem and instead of helping to solve it the bank just gives the customer a logistical headache. It’s a straightforward, no-frills approach that speaks directly to TD Bank’s image as a customer-centric bank. The new spots tackle issues such as hold music, getting a new debit card (“Almost Magic,” featured above), running late, and maintenance fees.

“TD Bank’s focus is to create a very human and convenient banking experience,” explained Vinoo Vijay, chief marketing officer, TD Bank. “These new commercial spots speak to the pain points consumers too often face with their banks. They also highlight how TD’s approach to banking is different. This includes our unparalleled service and convenience, as well as our customer-first culture.”

The “Human Truths” campaign kicked off yesterday and will run through mid-August, with a strong presence on the four major networks in all scheduled markets. In addition to broadcast, the campaign will contain additional elements across digital, social media and PR. Stick around for “Maintenance Guy” and credits after the jump. continued…

Filmmaker Still Getting Paid to Wander the World, This Time in a J. Crew Suit

Viral filmmaker Casey Neistat continues to milk brand marketers for a personal travel allowance in his new clip for J. Crew's Ludlow Traveler suit, which he wears around the globe while offering vague tips on "how to travel in style."

The video shows Neistat and his dorky haircut doing all sorts of fun stuff in the suit, from impressing local ladies with bike tire maintenance, surfing and snowboarding in business attire. He also digs some random holes in the ground at one point.

Neistat has built a career on taking marketers' money and doing unexpected things with it, like jetting around the world with a friend on Nike Fuel's ad budget or taking $25,000 to promote the film version of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and instead using it to help typhoon victims in the Philippines

This time Neistat plays it a bit more straight, though he does try really hard to be quirky. (Look at his tiny skateboard! Isn't he just precious?) , but the video's all in good fun, and he's not wrong about dressing up for travel. It really does make the whole experience more pleasant. The only way to make it even better is to have someone else foot the bill.

The Next Generation of Apps Will Be All About You

I had a dream last night that I was hiking along a stream with my family. It was the same path we’d hiked and geocached dozens of times. Except this time, Siri’s voice interrupted our hike and asked if we’d like to play a game.

An app appeared on my phone, and using GPS, our hiking history and topographical maps of the area, it had created a real-time obstacle course, complete with a map, times to achieve and “land mine” rocks to avoid. The app had proactively invaded our routine hike by creating a totally new experience.

When I awoke, I wondered if I had read about such an app, or if it was truly a dream. Concluding that it was indeed a dream, I knew the article that had inspired it. Earlier in the week, I had read about fitness apps that are personalized using individual goals and GPS technology.

Tudo brincadeira 🙂

Macy’s Co-Producing YouTube Reality Series With Maker Studios

Here’s one way Disney will try to recoup the $950 million it plans to spend buying YouTube network Maker Studios: with web series backed by deep-pocketed marketers.

One example arrives Thursday, when Maker will post the first episode of “The Next Style Star,” an online reality series listing Macy’s as a co-producer.

The 10-episode series will pit 16 fashion stylists against each other in a competition for $10,000 judged by fashion aficionados like Whitney Port, originally of MTV’s “The Hills,” and Made Fashion Week founder Jenne Lombardo. The winner will also have a chance to become a guest stylist on a Macy’s photo shoot and have his or her winning style displayed at Macy’s Herald Square store in New York City.

Clocking? Kissing Dad? Glub Glub? YouTube Announces 2014’s Next Big Viral Trends

YouTube is going all out for April Fools' Day today, revealing which outlandish trends will go viral for the remainder of the year—based on the premise that YouTube itself masterminds the site's biggest viral videos, trends and memes, like Gangnam Style, the Harlem Shake and Rebecca Black's "Friday."

"Here at YouTube HQ, we write, shoot, and upload all of the world's most popular viral videos. Here's a sneak peek at what you'll be watching in 2014," the site says.

The trends include:

• Clocking: The new planking! Hold your arms in the shape of the time in a public place. The longer you tick the cooler it is.

• Glub Glub Water Dance: An originally produced and choreographed song and dance, the Glub Glub Water Dance involves pouring water on yourself while flapping your arms and spitting out the water.

• Kissing Dad: Catch your dad's reaction on camera after you give him a smooch on the cheek or head. Celebrate kissing your dad once you're done!

YouTube is also inviting people to submit their viral trend ideas. It will pick three of them and create videos in real time for those trends from the YouTube Space LA.

Actually, Clocking probably will go viral after this.

See all the videos below.
