Ogilvy Appoints New ED of Content Production

Jenny Gadd has joined Ogilvy & Mather in its New York office as Executive Director of Content Production.

A native of Sweden, Gadd took the path less traveled to the Ogilvy office, working on both the agency and production sides of the business. After beginning her career at Fallon Worldwide, she moved into production with Believe Media and production management at Swedish agency North Kingdom.

In her new role, Gadd will oversee both broadcast and online video producers and report to New York CPO Matt Bonin; she will also serve on the Film Craft jury at the 2014 Cannes Lions Festival.

Goodby, Silverstein N.Y. Names Paul Caiozzo as Executive Creative Director

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, wasting little time filling its lead creative post in New York, has hired former freelancer Paul Caiozzo as its new executive creative director. The role most recently was held by Christian Haas, who co-founded the N.Y. office with Managing Director Nancy Reyes in January 2013 and departed earlier this month.

Mr. Caiozzo arrives at the agency with a portfolio of standout creative work. As a freelancer, he worked directly with brands such as Squarespace, Etsy and Vita Coco. He had also teamed with former Droga5 creative Graham Douglas on Help Remedies’ “Help I Want to Save a Life,” the Cannes Grand Prix-winning product idea that paired bandages with a bone marrow donor kit.

Prior to that, he held full-time stints at TwoFifteenMcCann, where he worked on Help Remedies initiatives such as the “Dream Recorder App” and campaigns for Xbox games such as “Halo” and “Gears of War.” Mr. Caiozzo previously also worked at Crispin Porter & Bogusky on notable campaigns such as Burger King’s “Whopper Freakout,” “Whopper Virgins” and “Flame,” the Whopper-scented body spray.

Facebook e YouTube concentram 32% do tráfego via acesso móvel

Carulla: Shutter Billboards

Media, Outdoor
Carulla

In Bogota, most stores close at 8 p.m. But Carulla 24-hour supermarkets stay open and offer everything people need: a deli, prepared foods, meats, vegetables, beverages, and spirits. So, we turned the closed night-time gates of several businesses into our billboards. We used them to say that though those stores were already closed, people could find what they were looking for in a Carulla 24 Hours.

We negotiated with small-store owners to let us paint our message on their gates in exchange for a monthly payment. In this way, we could deliver our message at the perfect time and place, while they profited during their nonworking hours.

Sony, Mutt Industries Celebrate Successful Launch of MLB 14: The Show

A couple of weeks ago we brought you news of “Baseball is Better,” Mutt Industries’ campaign for MLB 14: The Show, the latest iteration of Sony’s long-running baseball simulation series. Now, Sony and Mutt Industries seem to have a reason to celebrate, as MLB 14: The Show’s first week sales were the highest in franchise history. As you may remember, Mutt Industries recruited Danny McBride (best known for playing Kenny Powers on Eastbound and Down) for the anthem ad launching the game.

In the weeks following the launch of the campaign, Mutt Industries has continued to roll out content at campaign site www.baseballisbetter.com, including the recent, slightly misogynist “Miguel Cabrera Gets Faster with Quick Counts.” As the season progresses, Mutt Industries and Sony will release over 100 unique videos via YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, featuring various MLB stars. So far, in addition to Miguel Cabrera, Andrew McCutchen, Brandon Phillips, Jason Heyward, CC Sabathia, David Ortiz, and Brett Lawrie have all joined in on the action to show how “Baseball Is Better.” You can check out Cabrera’s recent spot above, and stick around for a refresher of the Danny McBride anthem ad after the jump. continued…

Acxiom Acquires LiveRamp to Boost Offline-to-Online Data Capability

Data services giant Acxiom will acquire LiveRamp, which helps marketers use their offline CRM and transactional data on the web, for approximately $310 million in cash. The acquisition is the first for Acxiom under the auspices of CEO Scott Howe, who came on board in July of 2011.

A recognizable name in the lesser-known data-onboarding sector, LiveRamp acts as a data bridge, transforming real-world data into information that can be used by online technologies. The company partners with around 80 tech firms that enable things like website optimization and online audience targeting. For instance, the company has worked with campaign attribution firm Adometry, which was snapped up by Google earlier this month.

“This is a big acquisition for us,” said Mr. Howe.

Shutterfly Congratulates Thousands of Women for Babies They Didn’t Have

This morning, Shutterfly, a photo/card printing website, sent out a mass email congratulating tons of people on their newborn babies. Which would be incredibly thoughtful, had many of the recipients actually given birth.

The error blew up on Twitter, as well as on Shutterfly's Facebook page. For many recipients, it was just a humorous gaffe. But for people who have struggled with miscarriage, infertility or the loss of a child, Shutterfly's email seemed particularly cruel.

Via Facebook: "I lost a baby in November who would have been due this week. It was like hitting a wall all over again."

Shutterfly issued an apology within a few hours of the emails going out:

But there was also talk of a second batch that got sent out this afternoon:

“I’m excited to join DDB California and build something really unique there,” said Byrne. “Clients and agencies alike are searching for the ‘new way’ of doing things, but we all know the ‘new way’ will be outdated the moment the meeting ends where it’s introduced. The answer is as timeless as our business and it starts with smart, nimble minds. I’m fortunate to have found a trove of them ready to be ignited.” continued…
