David Beckham Finds a Somewhat Less Chiseled Partner for Latest Underwear Ads

The earnest, staid tone of underwear advertisements easily lends itself to parody. And while that tactic has been on trend, new Late Late Show host James Corden has taken it a step further with David Beckham, a man who is famous for stripping down to his skivvies.

Hawking a fake new line of underwear, D&J briefs, Corden and Beckham tout the support of the right pair of briefs, noting that D&J can help quash existential anxieties, like, “Is there a reason to life? Is there a meaning to my days?”

It makes sense that Beckham would be game to mock his spots, given that the star revealed he had to leave the room when his Super Bowl spot for H&M ran last year. (It seems he didn’t want to watch peoples’ reactions to him running around in his underwear.)

While the spoof isn’t perfect—leaning on Corden’s weight for a punch line can be a bit much—it is fun to watch Beckham smolder while Corden goofs off.

Johannes Leonardo Celebrates ‘#OriginalSuperstar’ for Adidas

Johannes Leonardo explores the meaning of the term “superstar” and celebrates Adidas’ original Superstar shoe from 1969, while trotting out a slew of celebrities, in a new 90-second spot entitled “#OriginalSuperstar.”

Those celebrities aren’t just current and former athletes; NBA player Damian Lillard makes an appearance, along with David Beckham, but so do Pharrell Williams and Rita Ora. It’s a sign of the brand moving away from an athletic-wear image and hyping up its fashion cache. “If you think a superstar is standing on stage, filling up stadiums, and selling out concert halls,” Ora begins at the opening of the spot, and the rest of the 90 seconds follows the same basic formula. Each celebrity begins their own “If you think a superstar…” statement before passing it on to the next, until Pharrell finally concludes, “…then I am not a superstar.”

Over the course of the 90 seconds the repetitive, onanistic approach becomes a little grating. The self-congratulatory statements hint at the question “What is a superstar?” but, ultimately, the ad doesn’t say anything of substance on the (rather facile) subject. This would be a bit more excusable in a quick 30-second spot, but ninety seconds of celebrities musing about nothing in particular begs the question, “Where have we seen that before?”

David Beckham Invites You to Travel the World, Drinking His Scotch, in Ad From Guy Ritchie

If you’re the type of jet-setter who flies a seaplane to a Scottish estate so you can put on a tuxedo and have a drink with a handful of your posh friends, David Beckham would like you to buy some of his new whisky.

The recently retired soccer icon stars in this glitzy launch ad for Haig Club, a single grain scotch that Beckham produced with liquor giant Diageo and American Idol creator Simon Fuller. Filmmaker Guy Ritchie, a friend of Beckham’s—who directed him in this H&M ad last year—directed this one, too (and makes a cameo as the fisherman under the bridge).

It’s worth watching mostly for the gorgeous scenery (shot in the Scottish Highlands, at locations like Glen Affric). The people are pretty, too. Alt-J’s “Left-Hand Free” serves as the soundtrack. The storyline is thin, leaving you free to focus on the lush trappings—not unlike a fashion or perfume ad. That’s all the more appropriate, given that the bottle looks like it should hold something you splash on your person, not pour down your gullet.

Regardless, you should also be ready to drink it at the Great Wall, Easter Island, the Egyptian pyramids and Antarctica, among other places. In other words, get your travel budget in order—and don’t forget to bring your point-and-shoot camera, because everyone still uses those.

David Beckham Stars in New Haig Club Whisky Ad

David Beckham is certainly no stranger to advertising, but as far as we’re aware this is the first time the former soccer superstar has appeared in an ad for booze.

Beckham stars in the new spot for Haig Club Whisky, which was directed by Guy Ritchie. The ad sees Beckham partying it up at a remote estate in the Scottish highland — the kind of swanky real estate its fair to assume he and wife Victoria Beckham actually own — after meeting up with a group of friends. Beckham doesn’t speak in the ad (there’s no dialogue, actually) but he’s still the focus of attention, with Ritchie mostly keeping the camera focused on the star in the well-shot ad. No word yet on which agency was responsible, but we will update if/when we receive that information.

TBWAChiatDay, Adidas Throw a World Cup House Party

For the Super Bowl, the game is the advertising. For the World Series, ads are a respite. For the World Cup, however, there’s just not as much fanfare. TBWAChiatDay hopes to change that with its new spot for Adidas.
The work features retired legends of football/soccer/futbol (depending on who you ask) David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane, who are bored watching the young guys Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura playing EA Sports’ 2014 FIFA World Cup.
And then, a jewel-encrusted goblet of male bravado spills on the hardwood floor as a real soccer game trashes “Beckhingham Palace.”

Beckham and Zidane Star in Adidas World Cup Ad That's Actually, You Know, Fun

Epic ads are crowding the field ahead of Thursday’s World Cup kickoff, but Adidas doesn’t mind just having a little fun, sometimes.

This spot from the official sponsor, via TBWAChiatDay, finds retired giants of the game David Beckham (age 39) and Zinedine Zidane (41) bored while watching whippersnappers Gareth Bale (24) and Lucas Moura (21) playing EA Sports’ 2014 FIFA World Cup video game. The old men challenge the young men to kick a ball around in real life, and the foursome proceed to trash Beckhingham Palace, the posh home Becks used to occupy with his wife Victoria (before they moved to a much more expensive one).

The roguish spot is a welcome respite from anxiety-ridden opuses like Nike’s animated takedown of knockoff players, or Beats by Dre’s ode to pre-game rituals, or Adidas’s own Messi nightmare, or the brand’s PETA-trolling cow-heart campaign.

It is a game, after all. And given that it’s one where players tend to tap out well before 40, it’s nice to see age trump beauty for a change.

A-Trak Steps In to Provide Soundtrack for Latest Sid Lee/Adidas Work

Nothing like a little beat-dropping to wind down the day. So, let’s let Montreal native and renowned producer/mixmaster DJ A-Trak (just watch this from 16 years ago) do his thing for a minute in a new Sid Lee spot for adidas Originals, which is part of a larger global campaign for the brand called “Unite All Originals.”

While the days of Daft Punk, Snoop and David Beckham joining forces in the name of geekdom may have long since gone, the party continues in Sid Lee’s world with the aid of A-Trak, retro visuals by French artist SoMe (who also directs the clip) and a horde of hip youths. And, thanks to the clever editing and digital production work from partners such as B-Reel Stockholm, the interplay between music and visuals provides for a fairly hypnotic experience. Hey, we’ll take this over the usual late afternoon stupor any day. Credits after the jump.

Beckham Strips Down for Armani

Victoria BeckhamThe Beckhams are certainly hot names in the advertising market these days. But while David Beckham has been cutting some endorsement deals, wife Victoria is going all out and showing it for Giorgio Armani’s 2009 spring/summer lingerie.

Last year, David Beckham made his own line of commercials but today, with photo edits pretty obvious, it is the time of Victoria Beckham to take the spotlight.

Victoria was airbrushed in the photos, and her tiny balls turned into melons, her complexion is immaculate and we don`t even have to mention her perfect figure. Truth be told, these curves suit her and we hope she will conclude the same thing and put on a few pounds.
