GP de Film Craft para “Meet The Superhumans” do Channel 4

A categoria em Cannes Lions que premia o valor de direção e produção, Film Craft, deu o Grand Prix para o comercial “Meet The Superhumans”, da agência londrina 4Creative.

Criado para promover a transmissão dos Jogos Paraolímpicos 2012 em Londres pela emissora Channel 4, o filme mostra aqueles que viraram humanos com super poderes por terem nascido assim ou por terem derrotado a morte.

O Brasil ficou com 4 Leões na categoria. Um de cada cor para “Alma” da Leica (F/Nazca), e um Ouro para “Life Cuts” de Getty Images (AlmapBBDO)

The Cannes Case-Study Dilemma: Too Much Energy Being Spent on Presentation, Not the Idea?


Tonight the final and arguably most coveted honors will be handed out at the Cannes ad festival, among them the Titanium/Integrated Lions. I’ve had the honor of serving on that jury — alongside luminaries like the jury president, Wieden & Kennedy Founder Dan Wieden and BBDO top creative David Lubars — with the responsibility for recognizing the industry’s best examples of breakthrough ideas, like last year’s Nike Fuelband.

I must admit I came into the judging process thinking we’d be looking for the piece that was going to mark a step up for advertising, something that really signified the progress the industry has made over the last year. A couple days spent watching case study after case study, however, made it clear that we need to think about how all this creative energy is being spent.

Somewhere along the way the case-study film, with its penchant for big, meaningless results, has gained too much influence. The need to create value for consumers is felt more acutely than ever, but still so much of our efforts are about spinning the fantasy that there are millions of people out there waiting idly to engage with brands. These case studies suggest that the public will follow a brand story with the same diligence a jury does a case study film.

Cannes Lions 2013: GP de Titanium para Dove “Real Beauty Sketches”

Se o Brasil sempre teve poucas chances na categoria mais significativa de Cannes Lions, espero que um Grand Prix finalmente abra o caminho do país para mais e ousadas ideias capazes de concorrer com os cases do mundo todo.

Nessa manhã aqui em Cannes, saiu o aguardado resultado, e “Retratos da Real Beleza” de Dove deu o GP de Titanium para a Ogilvy Brasil.

Um prêmio, aliás, que vale muitos pontos na corrida por Agência do Ano. Mais tarde saem os premiados de Film e Film Craft. Aguardemos.

Porter Novelli’s Kiki McLean to Step Down, Move Into Counselor Role


Porter Novelli’s Catherine “Kiki” McLean, who is best known as a Democratic campaign veteran and for her work with both Bill and Hillary Clinton, is stepping down from her position and moving into a counselor role at the agency.

She is currently a senior partner, managing director and global head of public affairs in the Omnicom shop’s D.C. office.

In the new role, which is not full time, Ms. McLean told Ad Age that she will still work with a handful of key clients. The move will go into effect at the end of the month.
