AOL’s Latest Web Video Series Is a Tribute to American Industry


A new AOL web series highlighting the rejuvenation of American manufacturing is set to premiere tomorrow, but you can watch the first episode here first. We’ve embedded it below, along with a trailer.

The series, called “This Built America,” will run 50 episodes, one from each state. The episodes will air across a number of AOL properties including AOL.com, Huffington Post, Autoblog, TechCrunch and Engadget. The series is the latest dose of premium content produced by AOL, which it hopes it can sell ads against along with its programmatic offering.

“This is a great example of our continued focus on premium content and brand building,” said AOL global media sales head Jim Norton: “This Built America is a great example of how we are leveraging the premium nature of the AOL ecosystem to help brands tell stories.”

Cena de “Beleza Americana” inspira comercial de bacon

Em 1999, Kevin Spacey esteve na pele de Lester Burnham, um homem vivendo uma crise de meia-idade em “Beleza Americana“. Atraído por uma das amigas de sua filha, ele passa a cultivar fantasias com a garota – papel que coube a Mena Suvari -, sendo a mais famosa aquela em que ela está nua, coberta de pétalas de rosas. É exatamente esta cena que serve de insipração para “Good Morning Bacon”, comercial da Primo Smallgoods com criação da Ogilvy de Sydney.

No filme, que tem produção da Curious, as pétalas são substituídas por pedaços de bacon, e em vez de uma garota, o “sonhador” imagina a si próprio coberto pela carne. Para quem é fã de bacon, é um prato cheio…

Homens defendem igualdade entre gêneros em HeforShe

Quando se fala em igualdade entre gêneros, geralmente as mulheres assumem o papel de porta-vozes, uma vez que são elas que fazem as reivindicações. A United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, braço da Organização das Nações Unidas, resolveu mudar um pouco essa história colocando os homens para defender os direitos da mulher em HeforShe.

A campanha criada pela Publicis de Dallas conta com um hotsite, que apresenta o projeto e traz links para o Twitter e para o canal do YouTube, para onde os homens podem enviar vídeos com depoimentos sobre a igualdade entre gêneros.

“Estamos em 2014 e mulheres ao redor do mundo ainda estão sendo abusadas, objetificadas e silenciadas. Ainda assim, mulheres constituem metade do potencial mundial e cada uma delas tem direito a uma vida livre de discriminação. Sua voz tem poder – levante-a para dizer ao mundo por que a igualdade para toda mulher e menina é digna de luta”, destaca a apresentação da campanha.

HeforShe conta com porta-vozes conhecidos, como Desmond Tutu, Ban Ki-moon, Matt Damon, Patrick Stewart e Antonio Banderas. No Flickr e no YouTube, já é possível encontrar alguns depoimentos. Vale conhecer.
