“Anthem” the latest effort from Atlanta-based 22squared and the Costa Rica Tourism Board, may look like the rough cut of a Coldplay music video. The one-minute spot features shots of sherbet sunsets, beautiful landscapes, and even a frog jumping in slow-motion. The music is actually from M83 (from their Oblivion score), not Coldplay, but the point is that the commercial has the big sounds and simulated importance of something we’re used to seeing in music videos. That’s not a bad thing.
A few of Costa Rica’s recent tourism pitches have tried to capture this splashy substance. Patrick Pierson, who directed “Anthem,” also made the colorfully moody “Get Living.” And two years ago, there was the Effie-winning Million Dollar Happiness campaign. In the travel ad arms race, Costa Rica is destroying those clumsy Ocean City commercials with the lifeguard who has frosted hair. Slow-motion frogs beat inserts of standard beaches every time. Credits after the jump.
Ed Vaizey, the culture minister, today defended changes to UK copyright law, saying the Government wanted to create “a thriving publishing industry based on IP”.

Coca-Cola is spreading happiness with a hidden flag. Denmark has been named the happiest country in the world in several global surveys with the latest by the UN. So it was a remarkable discovery to find the Danish flag hidden in the Coca-Cola logo. McCann decided to take this discovery to Denmark’s biggest airport where it’s a tradition to welcome people with flags. But not everyone brings one and the welcome isn’t as big and happy as it could be. That’s why McCann created a special poster where people could take flags straight from the Coca-Cola logo. This gave everyone the chance to create a happy welcome to the world’s happiest country.

For now, your guess is as good as ours, but apparently, a great reveal is on the way some time today from Mother, which for obvious reasons celebrates Mother’s Day (which is this Sunday, the 12th in case you forgot) as if it were Christmas. Case in point, we’ve been told that the agency is even closing shop this coming Monday so we’re assuming some Sunday revelry will be in order. We’re not sure what the hell that all entails exactly but in the meantime, see the teaser above to get a glimpse at what agency’s got in store today. We’ll update with the full reveal once we receive. We don’t know about you, but a “Momtract” kinda scares us.
Update: Well, the agency seems to have been delayed a bit, but as promised, here’s a full clip promoting Mother’s “Momtract,” which, yes, still scares us, as it’s a contract that “gives mothers back the power they woefully lost as their children aged.” Well, we do remember at a certain point in high school the folks saying that “just because you’re taller than us, doesn’t mean we can’t tell you what to do” (for real). Yep, this just refines that notion, we think. See promo below and, if you dare, draw up your own “Momtract” here:

During the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the high consumption of alcoholic drinks is the main responsible factor for the increase in traffic accidents. Drunk drivers are directly involved in the increase of 50% of fatal accidents during this time of the year. Antarctica’s objective, the most consumed beer brand and sponsor of the event, was to make its consumers arrive safely at home after drinking.
We developed The Beer Turnstile. A new underground turnstile for which the ticket was an empty Antarctica beer can. Via optical reading, the can was scanned and the passage freed. The person just needed to save the last beer can and use it to get home safely.
