Sweden’s ads for McDonald’s remain insane

Beard_2 It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for another batch of weird and disturbing McDonald’s commercials from Sweden! The first three ads shown in the video are the latest in a series from DDB Stockholm advertising McDonald’s coffee. (We posted the latter three a few months ago, but our defenseless YouTube channel was just obliterated over copyright problems, so we’re reposting them here.) The idea of the campaign is that you’ll need McDonald’s coffee to fully emerge from your absurd, sheet-drenching nightmares—further evidence that Swedes might seem nice and mellow but they’re actually disastrous emotional wrecks.

Support for peace in Burma O&M and MTV spot

This spot is created by O&M Amsterdam and MTV (whose names does not appear on this sport) as support for peace in Burma. Spot uses footage of warplanes bombing Burma with flowers as an impressive call-to-action, inviting viewers to visit a new Burma Arts Board website, noneofusarefree.org.

Here at the new Burma Arts Board website, you can send messages of support to the people of Burma in honor of their continuing struggles against the notorious practices of their oppressive military government, learn more about the devastating effects caused by the recent cyclone, and find ways to contribute to relief efforts.

“This spot somehow talks directly to the emotions we feel about the current humanitarian crisis in Burma. We know that people desperately need help and we also know it is not reaching them. The narrative conjures up a task force that brings a powerful message of support to the people of Burma, and an urgent appeal to donate to the international relief effort.”

said John Jackson, Director of Social Responsibility, MTV Networks International.

Marketers Want Cable to Move Faster on Addressable, VOD Projects

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — If Deborah Wahl Meyer, chief marketing officer of Chrysler, seemed impatient during her keynote speech Tuesday at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association Cable Show in New Orleans, it's understandable. Addressable advertising, the industry game-changer marketers such as Chrysler have been asking the operators to create for them for years, is still nowhere near wide deployment.

Immersion Is Priceless

Over the last month I have had the opportunity to host a cultural immersion tour for my company and participate in a corporate immersion day that was hosted by another company. Immersion days involve key executives actually leaving their desks to experience new sights, sounds and environments that encourage and reward an open mind and unique perspective not easily grasped otherwise.
