Chrysler doesn’t just make cars. ChryslerListens.

According to Ad Age, Chrysler also reframed the focus group, presumably while listening, calling it “on-demand customer collaboration” instead.

Bold moves.

Psychotherapist Robots – MindMentor

(TrendHunter.com) In this day and age, a large percentage of the population in developed countries is either seeing a metal health hygienist or therapist (psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor) or has seen one at some point in their life. From the way things are presented, people are made to feel that if they’ve neve…

Gen Y’s crusade to make NASA fun again

Nasasat_2
It wasn’t long ago that patriotism, idealism and job security helped to fill the halls of NASA with some of our nation’s brightest young people—including, for the sake of disclosure, my mom. But things change, national priorities shift, and government agencies like NASA now face the daunting task of attracting a new generation of stellar employees.  Recently, four young NASA workers created a slideshow called “Generation Y Perspectives,” which has both earned praise and raised hackles throughout the space industry. The presentation (which you can download here) is a lucid and earnest appeal for NASA to re-ignite the enthusiasm for space by reaching out directly to today’s hyper-connected youth. The authors have even started the ball rolling by overhauling the OpenNASA blog and launching a Twitter feed. Their other marketing-savvy suggestions include having astronauts Twitter from space and letting kids control a Mars rover from their classroom. Not surprisingly, there’s been some backlash from those who feel the Gen Yers are being “self-indulgent, short-sighted, arrogant and brash.” But if they were truly self-indulgent, wouldn’t these young idealists have bypassed NASA and be comfortably employed somewhere that’s focused daily on appealing to new generations? Like, say, any corporation that cares about its future?

Lovable Loser Challenges Celebrities for Cozy Cotton Underpants

hula-hoop-girls.jpg

With money to burn from Hanes, a scruffy guy called Dave — who’s clearly approaching midlife with misgivings — is challenging celebrities to games like Rock Paper Scissors or wrestling. (Somewhat more entertaining than watching Sarah Chalke moan off a wedgie.)

Social Contest Site with Celebrity Flair – ibeatyou.com (VIDEO)

(TrendHunter.com) A new social site, IBeatYou just launched where users can make up a contest, such as “best group lip-dub music video” or “cutest feet” or “best beard,” then submit entries and compete with others to be voted the winner.

The celebrity connection comes from the fact that the site is co-found…

(TrendHunter.com) Trend Hunter has featured many creative works that use numerous naked bodies to create an image, logo or social commentary. But I like this new PLAYB0Y Germany ad the best!

High-Tech Teleconferencing – Cisco TelePresence (GALLERY)

(TrendHunter.com) Use the term “video conferencing” and people start looking wary recalling only having experienced jerky, fractured images and out-of-sync audio. Even today, after more than 40 years when AT&T;first introduced the Picturephone at the New York World’s Fair in 1964, few are impressed by the techn…

Powerful PSAs – Sexual Abuse

Futurelion
Are you a young go-getter? If so, you could be a Future Lion. AKQA is looking for entrants for its third annual Future Lions competition held at Cannes. The digital shop has a snazzy new Web site, complete with an artsy rendering of the awesome Future Lion mascot, and a Facebook page. The brief: “Advertise a product from a global brand in a way that was not possible five years ago—to an audience you choose. Think about what’s around now that wasn’t around then. As technology is constantly changing, this is your chance to come up with the next big thing. Invent a new medium. Use something traditional in a way no one’s thought of before.”

Smashing Pumpkins sue label over Pepsi ad

Pumpkins
Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Records for using the band’s name and music in a “Pepsi Stuff” promotion with Amazon.com. The group claims its “artistic integrity” is at stake, but the whole thing is generating more press than their last five albums combined, so the lawsuit’s probably well worth the price of filing. (Maybe Virgin sued itself in an effort to build buzz and move some Pumpkins product. These guys haven’t been that popular lately—what’s a record label to do?) Check out the amps in that picture. The group could probably work something out with Target.

Let’s jump right on the green bandwagon!

Green
From: Big Corporate CEO
To: Staff
Re: Let’s Go GREEN!
We’ve all heard a lot lately about how going green can improve a company’s brand image, better position its products in the marketplace and boost the bottom line. I’m not sure if any of that is true, but we’ve got to try something or we’ll be off-shoring the commissary service next. You know how long it takes to get a Cobb salad delivered from Mumbai? I don’t ever want to find out, so let’s just go green and see if that helps. Since I laid off the call-center staff, we’ll be converting that department into a hydroponic garden. The automatic dialers will be reprogrammed to play Bach (I read somewhere that produce likes classical music), and the sprinklers will be set for twice-daily misting. In an effort to reduce carbon emissions, all company cars will be replaced by Vespa scooters, and for those ferrying around clients, Radio Flyers will be available. Employees caught using Styrofoam cups or plastic silverwear will be fired on the spot. And from now on, let’s see quills on those pens. I’ve promoted the hydrangea in reception to vice president and asked it to oversee this initiative. If you’ve got any questions, concerns or complaints: Tell it to the plant!
