La firme basée à Shanghaï Studio Twist a transformé un bâtiment servant à l’origine de bunker en galerie, connu sous le nom de Connoisseur Gallery. Avec des choix de décoration originaux, ce lieu proposant une collection de pièces et objets exotiques propose une ambiance unique, mélangeant l’étrange au luxueux.

Dados do Facebook transformados em papel de parede floral

O estúdio alemão Onformative foi convidado este ano pela Deutsche Telekom para decorar a parede de sua nova loja no Mitte, em Berlim. Sabendo que estas lojas costumam usar suas páginas no Facebook como forma de se comunicar com seus consumidores, a ideia foi trazer as conversas que aconteciam online para dentro da loja física, em uma visualização de dados gerada a partir dos posts e interações na rede.

Uma visualização de dados abstrata ilustra dados e interações da Fan Page da Telekom Flagship Store.

O resultado foi um papel de parede que, à primeira vista, parece apenas com padrões florais. Mas, olhando de perto, consegue-se perceber como cada construção do desenho é determinada por dados conectados que contam histórias.

A equipe do estúdio criou uma aplicação em Processing para coletar dados de quatro anos, usando a API Facebook Graph. Dessa forma, cada folha é baseada em um post. Para cada um, são analisadas variáveis como data, número de comentários e de curtir. Tais valores são mapeados e projetados nas características de cada folha. Por exemplo, a cor vermelha determina o quanto o post foi curtido, enquanto o tamanho da folhagem refere-se ao tempo de postagem.

Além disso, QR codes acompanham alguns posts especiais, para que os visitantes possam instantaneamente acessar suas informações com o celular. Assim, cada estilo de folha passa uma diferente mensagem.

Para gerar o layout final, uma ferramenta de design generativo escrita em Processing foi usada para criar diferentes variações, todas editadas manualmente. As folhas generativas são, então, atribuídas automaticamente aos ramos criados em função das datas de cada post.

Desta forma, é possível “ler” as folhas como mensagens, em ordem cronológica a partir da raiz da árvore.

St Mungo’s: Wrapping Paper

The first ever ‘infectious’ wrapping paper has gone on sale today to help raise awareness and funds for homeless people this Christmas. Designed to look like snowflakes, the festive gift wrap re-creates viruses which pose serious health risks to people sleeping rough this winter including the common cold, influenza and pneumonia. All proceeds will go to St Mungo’s, the charity which helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to rebuild their lives. The innovative idea is the work of creative agency WCRS who came up with the idea and decided to donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale to the charity. It follows reports that Britain is facing one of the coldest winters yet with long-range forecasters predicting freezing winds and heavy snow until February. A total of 6,437 people were seen rough sleeping by outreach workers in London during 2012-13 – a 13 per cent increase on the year before. Of these people 4,353 are new rough sleepers – the equivalent to 12 new rough sleepers a day. Nationally, the number of rough sleepers is also escalating – with an increase of 31 per cent over the last two years.

Inside Instagram Office

Situés à San Francisco, les bureaux du réseau social Instagram ont été imaginés par Geremia Design, déjà à l’origine de la décoration des bureaux de Dropbox. Proposant une collection de mobilier rétro et de multiples références à la photographie vintage, les locaux sont à découvrir dans une série d’images dans la suite.

Kids Company: Print Happiness

An exclusive 3D printed toy shop to create Christmas presents for vulnerable children. Open to all from Friday 13th December to Wednesday 18th December, ‘Print Happiness’ will, with the help of donations from the public, create toys for Kids Company children who would otherwise not have anything to unwrap on Christmas Day. Six state-of-the-art Ultimaker 3D printers will create the toys live at the bustling Soho site in London. To print a toy, members of the public simply need to make a text donation of £5 to a specific number, and select the toy design of their choice.

Maynilad Water Services: Dengue Bottle

Dengue fever is the most deadly mosquito-borne viral illness in the world. In the Philippines, hundreds upon hundreds die from it every year. What people don’t know is that simple technology is available to prevent it. All it takes is clean water–plus brown sugar and yeast placed in a bottle. Producing carbon dioxide, the mixture attracts mosquitoes, trapping and killing them inside the bottle. Maynilad, a company that supplies clean water to the Philippine capital, distributed hundreds upon hundreds of these bottle mosquito traps to Filipinos.

Adidas revela a bola da Copa do Mundo 2014

Em evento no Rio de Janeiro, nesta noite de terça-feira, a Adidas apresentou a Brazuca, bola oficial da Copa do Mundo de 2014.

O design parece ter pouca relação com o Brasil, mas a marca afirma que muita tecnologia foi utilizada no desenvolvimento da bola. Um processo de quase 3 anos de testes, envolvendo 600 jogadores profissionais, e feita através de uma estrutura simétrica de seis painéis que possibilitam aderência e estabilidade em campo.

O comercial (acima) é protagonizado por diversas estrelas do esporte, brincando com o que seria o ponto de vista da própria pelota. Inclui cenas no Brasil, com uma pelada no campo de terra batida, e… uma galinha. Acho que o Fernando Meirelles fez o mundo acreditar que as ruas do Brasil estão infestadas de galinhas.

A Brazuca tem até perfil no Twitter, e uma ação para divulgar o lançamento vai dar uma bola para todos os bebês nascidos no dia 3 de dezembro de 2013. Basta o pai/mãe comparecer com a certidão de nascimento da criança em dos postos de trocas listados no site adidas.com.br/copadomundo.

Vale a pena aproveitar, pois o preço estimado da bola é de R$ 400.
