18 de abril de 2013. O mundo perde um dos maiores designers de capas dos últimos tempos. Storm Thorgerson foi, ninguém mais ninguém menos, que o gênio por trás da capa de Dark Side Of The Moon e quase todas as capas do Pink Floyd.

Fora isso, fez capas também para o Led Zeppelin, Dream Theater, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, The Mars Volta, Muse, Alan Parsons, The Cult, Cranberries, AudioSlave, Anthrax, 10cc, Catherine Wheel, Biffy Clyro, Bruce Dickinson, Disco Biscuits, Europe, David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Helloween, Megadeth, Steve Miller Band, Offspring, Pendulum, Phish, Scorpions, Pinneapple Thief, Powderfinger, Rainbow, Rival Songs, e outras bandas.

Mais do que um designer, ele era parte fundamental do processo criativo desses discos, se envolvendo com a banda muito além da capa e até atuava na direção dos videoclipes.  Ele virou peça fundamental do estúdio Hipgnosis, uma lenda inglesa da criação de capas de discos nos anos 70. David Gilmour faz uma declaração em seu site, dizendo que Storm era parte inseparável do Pink Floyd.

Ad Council: G.A.M.E. Case Study

The Ad Council is joining forces with BAM! Body and Mind and KIDZ BOP to premiere The Greatest Action Movie Ever (G.A.M.E), a kid-targeted film offering fun ways to channel the inner action hero and take steps towards a more active and nutritionally-balanced lifestyle. Starring Ryan Ochoa of the hit Disney XD series Pair of Kings, the first half of the six-minute long G.A.M.E. film will premiere on Sunday, April 14 on Disney XD as part of Disney’s Magic of Healthy Living , an initiative that inspires kids and families to lead healthier lifestyles. Audiences will then be directed to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s BAM! Body and Mind website, BAM.gov, to see the second part of the film and access additional health-related resources. The full-length film will also be featured on KIDZBOP.com and Disney.com. Created pro bono by McCann Erickson New York, the movie is the result of a two month-long contest that invited kids ages 5-18 to submit videos on KIDZBOP.com that showcase their action moves and healthy eating habits in one of nine different scripted scenes. Kids everywhere had the opportunity to upload their audition videos to KIDZBOP.com, the leading safe social network and video sharing site for kids and tweens with over 1.4 million registered users. More than 1,300 kids submitted videos and auditioned for the film, and over 5,000 kids cast their vote to select real kids from across the nation to star in G.A.M.E. alongside Ryan Ochoa.

Se a imitação está entre as melhores formas de homenagem, paródias poderiam estar um degrau acima nesse raciocínio. Pelo menos é o que podemos constatar com Dove Real Beauty Sketches – Men, paródia que o New Feelings Time Comedy fez da campanha Retratos da Real Beleza, criada pela Ogilvy & Mather Brasil para a Dove.

Enquanto a campanha da Dove mostra como as mulheres podem ser duras com elas mesmas – tese comprovada com a ajuda de um artista forense, que produz diferentes desenhos com as descrições das mesmas mulheres, sob dois pontos de vista diferentes -, a paródia mostra que os homens vão na exata direção oposta, revelando uma autocrítica nula.

É claro que, para piorar, as pessoas responsáveis por descrevê-los são mulheres, que acabam, claro, sendo muito mais críticas do que os participantes poderiam esperar. Em resumo, você pode até se ver no espelho como Brad Pitt e acreditar quando a sua mãe diz que você é o mais lindo de todos. Mas esteja preparado para uma realidade bem diferente sintetizada na mensagem final: “Homens, vocês são menos bonitos do que pensam”.

John Hegarty’s rant last week on how TV ads are getting worse fails to recognize that advertising is now witnessing its most creative dawn. Never before has marketing been so exciting and innovative. It’s why now is such a fun time to be a part of this industry.

I spent a couple years at the Death Star (as it was affectionately known by BBH employees). Hegs was one of the most enjoyable creative directors I had the pleasure of working with in 15 years of advertising. And it was truly enjoyable producing some great advertising for Audi, Barclays and Lynx.

We made slick TV ads, beautifully crafted by well-paid creative teams. Print ads followed an equally well-trodden path. Agencies knew what they had to do to help clients sell more products. Back then, agency life was, well, simple.

Tenho visto diversas campanhas de conscientização sobre escravidão recentemente. Será a influência global de Glória Perez? Rezemos pra que não. O tema é importante.

Em Atlanta, EUA, um caminhão com mulheres no papel de escravas foi transformado em outdoor ambulante ao vivo. A ação chamou atenção (pra não dizer, chocou) das pessoas que andavam tranquilamente nas calçadas.

Trata-se de uma campanha da ONG End It, tentando mostrar que o tráfico de mulheres como escravas sexuais tem relação com a realização de grandes eventos esportivos.
