The works exhibited by the 9 participating artists are extremely strong. As much as i admire Ai Weiwei and his opinion of the show, i do believe that artists can create meaningful, valid works even if they are not openly criticizing their country’s politics. Besides, some of the works exhibited did comment on political issues such as censorship and international relationships. Ai Weiwei is probably right though when he writes that “The Chinese art world does not exist.” At least probably not in a uniformed, self-conscious fashion continue

LIFX: A lâmpada inteligente

Quando Thomas Edison inventou a lâmpada, há mais de 130 anos, talvez não imaginasse que sua criação seria um dia banida em diversos países. O fim das lâmpadas incandescentes pode estar próximo, mas seu princípio e design continua inspirando.

A proposta da LIFX (vídeo acima) é reinventar a lâmpada, tornando o controle da luz completamente inteligente e feito através de um smartphone. Criada por quatro designers de San Francisco, a LIFX é instalada como uma outra lâmpada qualquer, mas se comunica via WiFi, é multicolorida e econômica.

Além da intensidade da luz e da cor, é possível programar horários de acendimento e até sincronizar com as batidas de uma música. Segundo os criadores, a LIFX pode durar até 25 anos, custando US$ 69 cada.

Esse é mais um projeto do Kickstarter que levantou a grana pedida em poucas horas. Dos US$ 100 mil solicitados, já ultrapassou a marca dos US$ 350 mil. A arrecadação de fundos termina em 15 de novembro.

To call attention to the fact “men get breast cancer too,” MCAC and CoppaFeel are out with with a promotional event called The Topless Female Trampolining World Championships. Yes. Seriously. Why should female breast cancer have all the boobie-based fun? OK, it’s not a real event but the promotion, the girls and the cause are very real.

You can check out the promotional video below in which Lars Larson, topless trampolining health and safety officer and a bevy of topless female trampolining world champions do their thing. Sadly, the toplessness is black bared and blurred.

There’s also a promotional site (called The Bouncies, naturally), a Facebook page and a Twitter account.

Skate for Two é o nome do filme da nova campanha do Smart criada pelos ingleses da Weapon7. O desafio era claro: traduzir para o público a “experiência única oferecida pelo Smart for Two e celebrar o fato de o carro ter apenas 2 lugares, o que o torna muito divertido para 2 pessoas”. Nova propaganda da John Lewis com participação especial do Samsung Galaxy

Seguindo a linha das ótimas campanhas de Natal da John Lewis na Inglaterra, esse novo filme mostra que desde que sua fundação, em 1925, muita coisa mudou, porém o que é mais importante será eterno.

A história de um casal separado por 87 anos em diferentes ambientes, que mostra o amor como algo universal e não datado, serve como base para o slogan “Never Knowingly Undersold since 1925″ (algo como “Conscientemente nunca desvalorizado desde 1925″). Já vi outras propagandas que misturam essa técnica de mostrar passado, presente e futuro na mesma cena. Não é algo muito original, mas a bela execução amarrada com o conceito e a trilha sonora com a bela versão de “Never Tear Us Apart” do INXS deixa mais um belo filme pra coleção da John Lewis.

A propaganda ainda conta com o apoio da Samsung, que anuncia sua tablet Galaxy em uma das cenas.

Agora é só esperar pelo filme de Natal de 2012 deles :)
