Depois de muita especulação, o Twitter lançou na semana passada a sua plataforma de publicidade Promoted Tweets.

Mas se ainda não ficou claro como a coisa toda funciona, o próprio Twitter explica no vídeo abaixo, em 140 segundos. Utilizando o exemplo da HashtagTees, é um tour mostrando como você pode promover um tweet específico que, por enquanto, é exibido apenas no topo dos resultados de busca.

Mas faltou explicar algo essencial no vídeo: como se paga por isso?

Eu não gosto do tom melancólico desse projeto da Stella Artois, que trata a época da publicidade exterior pintada à mão como algo que faz falta na vida das pessoas, como se fosse uma profissão que desapareceu por causa da tecnologia vil e inescrupulosa.

É claro que tem seu charme, uma arte perdida, mas não passa de nostalgia. É o mesmo discurso dos antigos diretores de arte: “Ah, no meu tempo não tinha esse negócio de computador. Era tudo na mão, paste up”.

No curta-documentário de 13 minutos, a Mother mostra a produção de um mural de uma taça de Stella Artois, e que levou 21 dias para ser feito. Ao mesmo tempo, conta a história dos profissionais aposentados, na tentativa de lhe fazer sentir culpa.

Um trabalho manual impressionante? Sem dúvidas. Mas continua sendo só propaganda.
