Last chance to save on Ad Age's 2018 Small Agency Conference & Awards

On July 17 and 18, the Ad Age Small Agency Conference & Awards heads to Los Angeles and today is the last day for you to snag your ticket before early-bird pricing ends.

We know it’s tough to be a small shop these days, so this year we’ve expanded the conference to tackle even more topics and give you more time to network with your peers. That includes kicking everything off on July 17 with a lunch with the editors of Ad Age and Creativity, which will be followed by the Small Agency Studio sessionstwo 4A’s Management Practitioners Forum workshops and an AMA (ask me anything) with Ad Age Deputy Editor Judy Pollack.

On July 18, we’ll cover how to build culture at your agency — and grow without destroying it; tips for winning new business; how to create a succession plan; what you need to know before you sell and much more. You’ll also get a look inside some quirky campaigns created by small agencies. And we’ll end the day by celebrating independent shops at the Small Agency Awards.

ICICI Bank: Make Room For More

ICICI bank came up with an innovative product called The Bench: a smart bench that expands every time someone sits on it, to accommodate more people.

Living in an extremely over-populated country like India is equivalent to no personal space specially in crowded public area. People have to adjust due to lack of space. We decided to a build a bench which expands every time bench gets fully occupied by people to create space for one more person. The bench has been placed at various places like R city mall. We will also be putting this benches at different ICICI bank branch to see how consumer react to these benches.

An innovative product like The Bench means no more space crunch.

J.C. Penney seeking another leader after CEO's abrupt exit

Big Texas-based department-store chain seeks new leader: must be willing to tackle sluggish sales, failed fashion and $4 billion in long-term debt.

J.C. Penney Co., once again, is searching for a new CEO after Marvin Ellison was poached by home-improvement retailer Lowe’s Cos. on Tuesday, a surprise exit that sent J.C. Penney’s stock down to historic lows.

Whoever takes the job will need to do more than fix J.C. Penney’s clothing offerings. Ellison, who became CEO in 2015, tried many initiatives to revive the department-store chain, including improving the online experience, adding big-ticket items like appliances and signing brand partnerships with celebrities. The moves failed to dramatically improve results, and, like his predecessors, Ellison had to slash prices to clear out inventory.

Facebook loses EU friends as bloc's lawmakers weigh break up

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg may have found his EU hearing on Tuesday a fairly easy affair to sail through, but that’s not to say he wasn’t in dangerous territory.

The first clue came early, when European Union lawmakers asked: Can you tell us why your company shouldn’t be broken up?

After the smiles, selfies and handshakes, two of the assembly’s top legislators said Facebook’s monopoly power should be looked at by antitrust officials — three years after parliamentarians urged regulators to weigh splitting up another Silicon Valley giant, Google.
