Office Turntable toca vinil ao ser ativado via QR Code por um smartphone

Com o objetivo de promover a nova música de seu artista Boris Dlugosch para agências de publicidade, o maior selo de dance music do mundo, Kontor Records, excluiu qualquer meio – como o CD, o DVD, uma carta ou até um email com link – que fosse direto para o lixo.

Focando em prender a atenção de um público saudosista e apaixonado por música, a gravadora resolveu enviar um vinil e garantir que fosse, de fato, escutado.

Para isso, Kontor Records criou um envelope interativo em forma de mesa de discotecagem. Chamada de Office Turntable, a mesa de papel foi desenvolvida para tocar o vinil em um smartphone, apenas o posicionando no local indicado. Assim, o QR Code é ativado para tocar a faixa, além de permitir mover a agulha da vitrola, controlando o tempo da música.

A ação teve ótimos resultados por trazer de volta a diversão analógica de se descobrir uma música nova, da forma mais simples possível, tocando-a através de um smartphone.

The Simpsons’ ‘Homer’ Car Turned into Reality by Racing Team


Forget bailouts, could this be the saviour of the American auto industry?

When Homer Simpson was asked to design his dream car, in series 2 of The Simpsons, he came up with ‘The Homer’: a customized set of wheels with features like gigantic cupholders, restraints and muzzles for quarreling kids and three horns blaring La Cucuracha.

Priced at $82,000, it never came to market in the show, but now racing team Porcubimmer has made it a reality. According to TIME’s Techland, a race car version of “The Homer” will be competing at the 24 Hours of LeMons race on June 29 in Buttonwillow, California. We hope Detroit is watching closely.

O fotógrafo Mark Crummett enxerga beleza na tecnologia moderna. Para ele, as máquinas e dispositivos que usamos todos os dias não são apenas funcionais, mas carregam uma estética atraente. Especialmente o seu interior.

Crummett tenta destacar essa beleza na série de fotografias Ghosts in the Machine, onde coloca bonecos dentro de partes de computadores antigos, fazendo com que os processadores, cabos e placas formem uma espécie de paisagem urbana de outro mundo.

Ventiladores do computador se tornam ícones da arquitetura pós-moderna e placas-mãe novos ecossistemas.

Os bonecos das fotos são modelos em miniaturas, usados em maquetes de construções de linhas de trem. Eles foram escolhidos por serem de um tamanho adequado, por estarem em posições de trabalho braçal e por usarem roupas que os fazem parecer dos anos 40. Colocados no meio de partes de computadores, os bonecos se passam por viajantes do tempo.

“Somos tão cercados por tecnologia que ela se tornou nosso ambiente, nossa segunda natureza.” – Crummett

Outros personagens que se distinguem destes bonecos trabalhadores, como os coelhos, idosos e crianças, funcionam como metáforas de vírus.

Todas as fotos foram montadas em seu estúdio, após meses recolhendo todos os materiais necessários, criando e recriando cenas, para que o instante da foto contasse, de fato, uma história.
