You Wanted It (OK, Maybe Not Really), But You Got It: Your Season 2 ‘The Pitch’ Info

Nine months after reaffirming its “commitment to awfulness” as our own Bob Marshall so eloquently stated, AMC has finally revealed details of the upcoming second season of its ad agency reality slugfest (well, if only), The Pitch. The brands participating in season two — which will consist of eight, hour-long installments and kicks off Thursday, August 15, at 10pm — include 1-800-Flowers, Bliss, College Hunks Hauling Junk, Fuller Brush Company, Gibson Guitar Corporation, Little Caesars, Square Trade and Tommy Bahama.

Perhaps you’re familiar with several of the names mentioned above, as are we, but we’re not sure if any of the actual agencies vying for their work in The Pitch part deux ring a bell. But maybe that’s just us. Here’s your list: Daniel Burton Dean (Nashville, TN), Fletcher Rowley (Nashville, TN), Powell Creative (Nashville, TN), breensmith Advertising (Atlanta, GA), Innerspin (Los Angeles, CA), MC2 (Los Angeles, CA), COR (Santa Monica, CA), Neuron Syndicate (Santa Monica, CA), Central Coast (Chicago, IL), Commonground (Chicago, IL), The Monogram Group (Chicago, IL), Bee-line Communications (Chicago, IL), Mischievous Studios (Hollywood, CA), Heavenspot (Glendale, CA), OneX (Culver City, CA) and Pasadena Advertising (Pasadena, CA).

Maybe season two is a little less high-profile than its predecessor, but at least we’ll have more of Bob’s epic day-after recaps to look forward to once again.

Abaixo, separamos algumas imagens deste projeto incrível.

Puma Flash Mobs Borussia Dortmund After Champions League Final

Celebrating athletic accomplishments is one thing, but serenading the soccer team that just lost a heartbreaking UEFA Champions League Final to Bayern Munich may not be the greatest idea, especially when that team is waiting in Stansted Airport and the players look like deflated tires in designer suits. Surely, there was hard work put in by all involved – dancers, singers, creatives – and that should be acknowledged. But, the three-minute clip almost looks like a spoof video; the players seem dazed and confused as the dancers spin around to “Movin’ On Up” by veteran Scottish act, Primal Scream.

Maybe it’s a European thing, or maybe I’m not a fan of flash mobs (which apparently will never die), but I’m not sure I comprehend the randomness of this particular gesture in relation to Borussia Dortmund. In the age of organic viral content, this latest work from Puma just feels clunky and off-beat.

Indie Shops Line Up For Season Two of ‘The Pitch’

Fourteen small and midsize agencies are winding up for the next season of “The Pitch” this summer — including one that was an Ad Age Small Agency of the Year in 2012.

The AMC reality series, now in its second outing, has drawn shops from Nashville, Chicago and the Los Angeles area that will vie on camera for business from brands such as Little Caesars and 1-800-Flowers.

Also among the eclectic collection of marketers on deck when the show returns on August 15: beauty and spa brand Bliss; College Hunks Hauling Junk; Gibson Guitar Corp.; Square Trade; Tommy Bahama; and a true classic — Fuller Brush Co.

What’s Qualitative Data?

Qualitative data requires a subjective decision in order to be categorized or measured. Qualitative data  can be described and observed, but not measured like quantitative data.

For marketers, qualitative data is typically information gleaned in surveys, focus groups or social media posts. The information can be categorized, for instance, according to sentiment.

Map/Reduce Defined

Map/Reduce is an open source programming model originally built by Google that is used in Hadoop for processing large data sets. Map/Reduce is typically used to make the process of computing on clusters of computers more efficient. Mapping takes a set of data and converts it into another set of data, where individual elements are broken down into a sequence or ordered list of elements, known as tuples. Reduce then takes the output from a map as input and combines those data tuples into a smaller set of tuples.

‘Ideas Man’ Retools Workshop, Launches Guerilla Marketing School

It’s been a couple of months since we’ve heard from Floyd Hayes, the “ideas man” himself who most recently concocted the “world’s fastest agency.” Just before that concept came to light, though, Hayes leveraged his years of experience in guerilla marketing, specifically as a creative director at U.K./NY shop Cunning, to launch a $49 course called “Free Thinking for Sale” (see clip below for reference).

Well, after a few months of trial and error, Hayes has checked in to tell us that he’s retooled the “Free Thinking” concept, shaved the price and has launched an online, interactive workshop called, yes, the Guerilla Marketing School. According to Hayes,  GMS is aimed at anyone interested in marketing, advertising, PR stunts, getting attention for their cause or just developing their creative thinking skills. This time around, Hayes’ workshop will cost you a cool $20 and his GMS course can be taken “anywhere at anytime, in one go or in snack-sized bites.” Well, why steal any more of the man’s thunder, go here if interested in learning more.
