Environmental Concern Gets 80,000 to Skip Behavior, Not Ad

skip_behavior_not_ad.jpg

Chili-based environmental concern Sodimac et La Casa Eco has made brilliant use of YouTube’s newish ad skipping feature. A two minute video illustrates how the entity incorporated the ad skipping feature into their creative by adding a Skip This Behavior button which would appear just above and at the same moment as the Skip Ad button would appear.

Messaging would ask viewers whether they wanted to skip a certain behavior (using too much water, for example) or skip the ad. It worked. In one week, 80,000 people clicked the Skip This Behavior button.

PSAs Continue Robotripping Puke-Fest

josh_robotrip.jpg

In May, Partnership for a Drug Free America CPHA have teamed to create a cookie tossing pukefest aimed at calling attention to Robotripping, the overuse of cough medicine to get a high or sorts. And yes, poor Robitussin is the genesis of the term robotripping.

Well the two entities are at it again with three new Tribal DDB San Francisco-created pukefests, one of which take the choose your own adventure direction. But, rest assured, the puke-fest approach is still central to the campaign.

And apparently, people like to watch people puke because a couple of the videos are getting decent view counts.

Citroen’s Transformer-Style Robots Become Singing Cylons

citroen_robot_chorus.jpg

My, my, the Citroen robots have become more sophisticated over the years. If you recall, an early effort by Vancouver-based The Embassy had a Citroen do a Transformers-style dance atop a parking garage.

Five years later, working with Paris-based Agency H, The Embassy is out with a, well, more grounded version of the robot. Eschewing the CGI and VFX approach taken with earlier work and commenting on the new work, The Embassy President Winston Helgason said, “The tendency with VFX driven work is to make it as glossy and polished as possible, which often makes it look more fake. This is often reflected in the color grade as well. Overall, we deliberately embraced the imperfections, which in the end added an extra layer of authenticity.”

Called Robot Chorus, the work is akin to a Live Aid/We Are the World-style sing-a-thon and takes a more minimalist approach to robot creation.

Personally, we prefer the tricked out, Transformers-style robots but, hey, things change and brands move on.

And the Transformers-style video:

Anna Dello Russo Says ‘You Need the Fashion Shower’

Anna_Dello_Russo_HM_fashion_shower.jpg

H&M has hooked up with Vogue Japan Editor-At-Large Anna Dello Russo for a Colony-created, Alex Turvey directed video in which Russo struts her stuff and offers up a “fashion shower” of fashion commandments to honor the launch of her new accessories collection for the retailer.

In the 2:46 video, set to tunes from Producer/DJ Emiliano Pepe, Russo prances about in a grand wink to the over-the-top, very silly world of high fashion.

It’s yet another tarjay-ification of the big box discount clothing retail segment formerly occupied by mundane giants like Kmart and the now-dead Bradlees and Caldor.

Which, of course, is just smart marketing. In a Walmarted world, everyone wants cheap shit but they want to feel hip and cool buying it. This is what H&M is doing. It seems to have worked for Target. Not quite sure about H&M. But we’re not a fashion blog so what do we know?
