Arnold’s latest ads for Progressive Insurance (the one above and a second one here) show guys in sleek black motorcycle outfits doing household tasks like folding laundry and hammering nails to hang paintings. The work is slightly creepy, in a good way. First of all, the woman in the “Towels†spot above is the same woman from the M&Ms ad where the Blue M&M licks himself—guess she’d had enough of that behavior. The point of these ads: If these guys had used Progressive, their hogs would be out of the shop, and they’d be riding. (“Hog†is cycle slang. I watched Easy Rider last week and was itching for a chance to use it.) With all the buzz about industry dress codes, I suggested to AdFreak management that we adopt motorcycle garb instead of “smart casual.†They ordered me to start wearing shirts instead. That’s me—rebellious, like Peter Fonda. The shirt stays off!

LONDON – ITV is facing a record fine of up to £4m for its part in the phone-in scams that conned viewers out of millions of pounds.
(TrendHunter.com) SillOf’s Workshop is an online collection of homemade steampunk sci-fi action figures. Here is his (or her) go at Star Wars characters. All the biggies are here – Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, R2-D2, C-3PO, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, and StormTrooper. NOTE: Items not for sale…
LONDON – Marks & Spencer is considering launching an online food delivery service similar to Waitrose’s Ocado, as part of which the retailer would sell non-M&S-branded food items for the first time.
LONDON – Nike will tonight launch its new TV spot for its football range, directed by Guy Ritchie.
Last week, Mother London broke a new spot for Pot Noodle meant to be a spoof of the power ballads of the 1980s. In it, a bloke sings, wishing girls could be more like Pot Noodles. By Friday, there were 10 complaints sent to the Advertising Standards Authority, which included the claim that the ad is “offensive and demeaning to women, is misogynistic and portrays women as sexual objects”, according to the Media Guardian.
This campaign follows Mother’s first ads for the brand–the Welsh Miner campaign of 2006–which also brought about concerns of racism. The new ad is a continuation of Mother’s aim to reposition the brand away from previous “Slag of all snacks” and “Pot Noodle horn” advertising campaigns.
More from New Zealand. DRAFTFCB in Auckland has also done outdoor posters for the Secret Diary of a Call Girl to go with their print campaign
and when the wind comes… (outside wind! Not hers! Hehe.)

WIPO has released their administrative panel decision in regards to the domain name Teflonminne, which I told you about here: DuPont’s Teflon does not want to go the way of Hoover – C&D’s Swedish bloggers for speaking Swedish.. Quick recap.
Dupont:
Complainant asserts that the word “teflonminneâ€, forming the distinctive element of the disputed domain name, is not a word of the Swedish language, as evidenced by the fact that the word is not included in The Swedish Academic Glossary (SAOL), being the most authoritative dictionary in regards to the Swedish language.
Complainant further holds that the domain name was registered and is being used in bad faith. Complainant argues that the domain name’s allusion to the non-stick attributes of the trademark establishes Respondent’s knowledge of the TEFLON mark.
Teflonminne:
Respondent argues that the term “teflonminne†is an established and frequently used word in the Swedish language.
Respondent further asserts that the word “teflon†may be used in other ways than to describe Complainant’s trademark. Respondent holds that several dictionaries categorize the word “teflon†both as a trademark, an adjective, a noun, a part of speech and defining its “metaphoric extentionâ€.

LONDON – TBWA/London is following up last year’s viral campaign for the Nissan Qashqai, which showed the cars performing stunts, with an equally dangerous-looking series of online films.
