Em julho passado, eu falei nesse post sobre a série “FlashForward”, produção da ABC com pretensões de ser o novo “Lost”. Com o primeiro episódio exibido na semana passada, a conexão entre as séries ficou ainda mais clara, incluindo outdoors da Oceanic Airlines no cenário urbano.

Além disso, “FlashForward” promete ter a sua própria Iniciativa Dharma com a The Mosaic Collective. Na história da nova série, inspirada pelo livro de homônimo de Robert J. Sawyer, toda a raça humana ficou inconsciente durante 2 minutos e 17 segundos, um evento que ficou conhecido como o Grande Blackout. Nesse período desacordadas, as pessoas tiveram visões de suas vidas em 6 meses no futuro.

O que a The Mosaic Collective propõe é que as pessoas contem o que elas enxergaram, para assim montar um mosaico global do que acontecerá no futuro. Além de conteúdo gerado pelos usuários, o site Join The Mosaic traz também uma série de vídeos que funcionam como complemento ao que foi/será exibido na TV, provavelmente apresentando novos personagens.

Outra pedaço da campanha viral de “FlashForward” é o blog fictício Truth Hack, em que o jornalista investigativo Oscar Obregon pretende mostrar que é a The Mosaic Collective é na verdade uma jogada política do governo dos Estados Unidos. Em uma série de vídeos, Oscar descontrói a iniciativa, e está também no Twitter.

Finalmente, o site FlashForward Experience, lançado semanas antes da estreia da série, faz aquilo que é moda entre as novas experiências publicitárias do momento: utiliza as informações do Facebook, como fotos, amigos e grupos, para inserir o usuário no contexto do vídeo.
