The Cast of Girls Just Made This Sexual Assault PSA Dedicated to the Stanford Victim

Lena Dunham and the cast of HBO’s Girls just released this sexual assault PSA, which questions the way society treats victims. The 90-second spot urges people to create a “safer, healthier environment for women to come forward” by listening to and supporting victims.

Lena Dunham's Ad for Rachel Antonoff Imagines Zoe Kazan as the First Woman President

Lena Dunham directed this new four-minute fashion film for Rachel Antonoff, in which Zoe Kazan stars as Audrey, a young woman with dreams of the presidency.

When Audrey is dressed down by a neighbor to whom she had hope to explain her platform, Dunham enlists a bit of magical realism and lets Audrey’s imagination take the reins, as we see what her version of the presidency might be. Oh, and since this is an ad, after all, Audrey dons Rachel Antonoff’s new collection & Other Stories.

While the spot is a bit ’90s girl power, leaning on a lighthearted, easy-going tone, as Jezebel notes, it is rather fun and charming.  And Dunham herself used promoting her film as another opportunity to make her opinions about 2016’s candidates clear.

Lena Dunham Gets Her Famous Friends to Model Her Planned Parenthood T-Shirt

If you’re one of the nearly 1.2 million people who follow Lena Dunham on Instagram, you might have noticed her posts flooding your feed this morning—shot after shot of her celebrity pals wearing a new T-shirt she designed for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

Dunham partnered with Planned Parenthood as part of her book tour for Not That Kind of Girl earlier this month. Proceeds from the $25 shirt will go directly to funding the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the electoral and political arm of Planned Parenthood. Oh, and if you haven’t put it together just yet, the shirt seems to be part of a push to remind fans to vote on Election Day.

Starworks Group Rocks the Vote with Lil Jon in ‘Turn Out for What’

Starworks Group enlisted the aid of Lil Jon, Whoopi Goldberg, Lena Dunham, Fred Armisen and a host of other celebrities for a Rock the Vote spot set to a reworking of Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” as “Turn Out for What.”

The spot opens with Lil Jon informing Goldberg that he’s turning out for the midterm elections. At the polling center he meets a big fan and runs into Lena Dunham, who won’t reveal Girls spoilers to the rapper, much to his dismay. Around the video’s midpoint, celebrities start mentioning the causes they are turning out to vote for over “Turn Out for What.” (Surprise: Lil Jon is turning out for marijuana legalization.) Say what you will about the ad’s over-the-top approach, but it’s certainly received its share of attention, racking up almost 600,00 YouTube views since being posted earlier in the week. (more…)
