Sprite: Sprite Shade

Every Sunday, since the 90s, one of the main transit routes in São Paulo and one of its urban icons, President Costa e Silva High, more popularly known as the “Minhocão” (big worm), is closed to traffic and becomes a 7-mile long park in São Paulo, where people stroll along and exercise. Built in 1970, Minhocão could be described as the Brazilian version of High Line Park, in New York, if it was not for a huge difference: it does not have a single tree, which makes it a very unusual “park” that gets considerably uncomfortable on the hottest days. Aligned with the positioning “Refresh Your Ideas,” and seeking to reinforce the brand’s connection with urban creativity, Sprite came up with a new way to cool off in summertime: a personal mobile tree shadow. WMcCann created “Sprite Shade” and placed lemon trees in mobile vases shaped like Sprite cans along the park. That way, people could walk with their own personal shadow and refresh themselves, no matter how hot the day was. The action reached more than 500 hundred people in a single day.

Vivo: Dream

At the age of 18, Anderson Silva tried out and flunked at one of Brazil’s most renowned soccer clubs. Ironically on the same day that happened the athlete started considering boxing as an alternative. Undoubtedly he began practicing and became a great champion. Even with his UFC success, he still dreamed of playing a soccer match for the National Team. The film is a tribute to all those who dream or have dreamed of becoming a soccer player.

Family Guy Pleads for an Emmy With Racy Spoof of HBO’s Girls

Fox's Family Guy has a new "For Your Consideration" ad for this year's Emmy Awards, because Seth MacFarlane's unfunny Rat Pack schtick hasn't ruined enough award shows yet. The latest ad references an episode of HBO's Girls in which someone received a pearl necklace. Hence the Family Guy headline: "Here's a load of comedy to shoot on your chest." Groan. It's better than the lazy Jew-baiting that MacFarlane and company have been relying on lately, but that Girls episode was beaten to death long before they got to it. But that's to be expected from a show that hasn't been funny since I was in college.
