Real-Life Vintage Cartoon Counterparts – Old Disney Cartoons are Shown with Their Real-life Counters (GALLERY)

How Would Your Kid Fill A Shopping Cart?

To raise awareness of its kids’ pack menu during Childhood Obesity Month in Puerto Rico, Subway made a social responsibility video showing just how a kid would fill up a supermarket cart if they had the choice. Agency DDB Latina recruited parents and kids without telling them what it was for, then filmed the kids filling the cart with their choices — mainly sugary snacks — as the parents watched in horror. The video was shown on local media and discussed on social media, and sales of Subway’s kids’ pack menu rose by 123%.

The shopping theme of the campaign is reminiscent of this other moving anti-obesity effort from Blue Cross/Blue Shield Minnesota, out of mono and directed by Academy’s Amanda Boyle.

Hacked Associated Press Twitter Account Sends Markets Falling

U.S. markets sank and recovered over a span of seconds after a false report on the Twitter account of the Associated Press said there had been explosions at the White House, injuring President Obama.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index each fell about 1% before rebounding. A separate Twitter account operated by the AP’s corporate communications team followed up minutes later with its own message: “That is a bogus @AP tweet.”

The news agency may be the latest victim in a series of hacking cases against news outlets, including The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. The errant tweet spooked investors eight days after two explosions struck the Boston Marathon, killing three people and wounding more than 200. U.S. authorities brought charges against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev yesterday for the attack.

Sleep Inside a Giant Toy at Legoland California’s New Hotel

Legoland California now has a special themed hotel to offer its guests. The 250-room hotel is a testament to all things Lego, with lots of Lego brick sculptures throughout (including a 400,000-brick dragon at the entrance) and themed rooms reminiscent of the sleazy motor lodges of yesteryear—only, you know, family-friendly Lego versions. The price isn't so friendly, though. Rooms start at $339 a night. More images below.

Carmichael Lynch Finds Brilliant New Use for 100-Year-Old Water Tower on Its Roof

Minneapolis ad agency Carmichael Lynch turned the century-old water tower on the roof of its building into an art installation. Students from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design contributed video pieces that are (as you'll see in the video) being projected onto the tower throughout April. The projections run in a loop, and the pieces vary in duration and subject matter—some of them wouldn't look out of place as the backdrop for a Butthole Surfers concert, which I mean as a compliment. Best of all, the project is free of any callouts to social media—no Web addresses, no Twitter handles, no "Like us on Facebook!" faux pleasantries. That would have been overkill, since it's pretty obvious who the responsible parties were and how this will reflect on them, and it's nice to leave that crap to the side sometimes and just enjoy some public art.
