Meet The World in One City: Heineken desafia jovens a conhecer o mundo sem sair de Amsterdã

Recentemente, a Heineken lançou mais um desafio integrando comunidades, redes sociais, globalização e diversão: Meet The World in One City. Dessa vez, dois jovens comuns – Barnaby Slater, do Reino Unido, e Mick Johan,  da Holanda – foram desafiados a conhecerem uma pessoa de cada um dos 194 países reconhecidos no mundo. Os obstáculos? Eles tinham apenas 2 semanas e não podiam sair de Amsterdã, cidade sede da marca.

A campanha baseou-se principalmente no Facebook como estratégia para encorajar os fãs a se envolverem e fazerem parte de sua comunidade global. Os usuários podiam participar mandando seus nomes ou de conhecidos que estariam em Amsterdã, para que pudessem participar e ajudar na missão.

A competição acabou essa semana com os seguintes números: os dois jovens conheceram pessoas de 153 países dos 194 da lista. Mas o resultado foi além do desafio proposto, tornando o Facebook da marca num espaço para que os fãs de todo o mundo, que estivessem viajando pela cidade-sede, pudessem trocar contatos, se conhecerem no mundo real e compartilharem seus encontros na rede.

194 países, 14 dias, 1 cidade = mobilização de fãs, troca de contatos, encontros no mundo real e comunidade global abastecida.

Joyce King Thomas Returns to McCann, Will Lead New Division for MasterCard


Just weeks after stepping in as the new leader at McCann Worldgroup, Harris Diamond has worked out the return of a veteran creative to the agency. After a two-year absence, Joyce King Thomas is rejoining the shop to oversee a new division built around one of the shop’s biggest and most-important clients, MasterCard.

For years, Ms. King Thomas was one of the few female senior creative leaders in the business. She joined McCann as a group creative director in 1995, and was chief creative officer in McCann’s New York office from 2004 until 2010, when under the agency’s former chief, Nick Brien, she was ushered out as part of a massive management overhaul that led to the replacement of a slew of longtime staffers. In the interim, she joined LongReads as director of brand partnerships.

At McCann, Ms. King Thomas was the brains behind the long-running “Priceless” campaign. She co-created that iconic push after working on MasterCard advertising since the late ’90s. She was also responsible for expanding the campaign to more than 100 markets around the world.

James Franco Fights Photo Bombers With Galaxy Camera

As an event photographer I can attest to every one of the challenges highlighted in this new, James Franco-directed video that promotes the Samsung Galaxy camera. In the ad, Franco photographs friends at a party he’s hosting. As he does so, he runs into situations faced by a photographer and how the Galaxy camera can help overcome the obstacles.

In addition to directing and appearing in the video, Franco will use the camera to share photos and videos of his life on his Twitter and Facebook pages through January 5.

This video will be the third time Franco and Samsung have collaborated this year, previous productions include, “Fact Checkers Unit” and “The Ultimate Multi-tasker,” a video for the GALAXY Note 10.1.

People on the Move: Possible Names Tamy Harms President of Cincinnati Office


Possible, a WPP Digital global agency, has named Tamy Harms as president, Cincinnati. Jodi Schmidtgoesling, who previously headed Cincinnati operations, has been promoted to the new, global position of chief client officer, fast-moving consumer goods. Ms. Harms joins Possible from Digitas, where she served as managing director of the agency’s Detroit office. During a four-year period at the firm, she spearheaded a major expansion, growing the office from a staff of six to more than 200 and leading efforts as digital agency-of-record for GM’s portfolio of automobile brands, including Buick, GMC, GM Connected Customer, OnStar and GM Certified Service.

Bessie Lee has been named to the newly created role of CEO, WPP China. Ms. Lee, who is currently CEO of GroupM China, will transition into her new position in early 2013. Ms. Lee has been working across WPP companies for more than 20 years, starting her career in Taiwan with JWT’s media division and subsequently moving to Mindshare in China. She has led GroupM China since 2006. WPP is the leading marketing-communications group in China, and Greater China is WPP’s largest market after the United States and United Kingdom.
