As Aventuras Mário Publicitário

XLIII Super Bowl: Audi | Chase

This Is the Kind of Creativity We Should See More of in the Bowl

Here's a handful of things you'd be better off evaluating than the commercials that happened to run Feb. 1 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. but that were not Super Bowl-worthy.

Media Guy’s Pop Pick: ‘Fakers’

Paul Maliszewski's new book, "Fakers: Hoaxers, Con Artists, Counterfeiters, and Other Great Pretenders," is a well-timed meditation on the nature of media-fueled deception, literary and otherwise.

According to a tabloid source, Disney has been "taking a hard look at 'right-sizing' the Jonas Brothers" — three real-life brothers from New Jersey whose Disney Channel appearances and "Camp Rock" movie helped propel their albums and singles up the Billboard charts.

Super Bowl Ad Winner: Hyundai’s Big Marketing Idea

It won't top any of the many meaningless Super Bowl ad charts, but the best advertising in the big game was Hyundai's "Contract." With the Assurance program promoted in the spot, the automaker confronts the recession head-on and does something tangible to tackle its effects.

Why Marketing Clashes With Management

What's the biggest problem in business today? Left-brain management and right-brain marketing don't see eye to eye. Management is verbal, logical and analytical. Marketing is visual, intuitive and holistic.

BATAVIA, Ohio (AdAge.com) — In an interview with Ad Age, Alberto-Culver U.S. President Casey Keller explains how he plans to further take on the company's bigger rivals; why the old Jack Welch imperative of being No. 1 or 2 doesn't apply in hair care; and how the recession could actually help his company.

Can Buying Blind Save Web Ads?

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Blind faith. It's not the way many do business, particularly in an age of return on investment and a stinging recession. But for one online-advertising start-up, that kind of faith — among buyers, sellers and publishers — is what's needed to help prop up declining costs per thousand and dwindling sell-through rates.

Facebook’s Plan to Amp Up Ad Revenue

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Think Facebook's 15 minutes are just about up? Well, one in five web users in the world is saying otherwise.

Google Closes in on Yahoo’s Leadership in Display Advertising

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Yahoo's business didn't crater in the fourth quarter — good news for new CEO Carol Bartz. But the bad news: The No. 2 online player predicts first-quarter revenue will be down 10% as the recession starts to hit online-display-ad budgets in a bigger way. What's more, the display-ad advantage it commanded over its closest competitor, Google, is less formidable than it used to be.

How to Get a Brand on NBC’s ‘Today’ for Nothing

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Most marketers looking to get their messages out by using NBC's popular morning-news program, "Today," figure they'll need to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a 30-second spot. But standing outside with a sign or costume works too.

Madonna Wins Custody Battle

Madonna And Family Attending Kabbalah ServicesMadonna won a court order that allowed her to relocate her two sons, Rocco and David Banda to New York. Though it was deemed by many as temporary, it is likely that the setup will become permanent later on. Estranged husband Guy Ritchie was shocked on the ruling and merely resigned from the announcement.

The former couple divorced in November after a summer of rumors. Guy is currently filming “Sherlock Holmes” with Robert Downey Jr., while Madonna recently announced an extension of her top-grossing “Sticky & Sweet” tour to begin, coincidentally, in London on July 4.
