For continuously supporting the gay organizations, a call by the American Family Association to boycott goods and products by Pepsi and Campbell has been announced. It is quite obvious that the homosexuality issue has been far from settled despite being set legal in some states.
Worst, this move by Pepsi on not supporting any pro-family organization that is opposed to homosexuality further got the ire of AFA and for sure, the world. Has Pepsi gone nuts?
Pepsi refuses to give money to any pro-family organization that opposes the homosexual agenda. Additionally, PepsiCo is forcing it’s employees to attend sexual orientation classes. Both of the gay organizations mentioned here donated large sums of money (perhaps some PepsiCo money) to defeat Proposition 8 in California. That didn’t work as the proposition to protect marriage in California was passed overwhelmingly by the people of California.

Long time ad veteran, Paula MacVittie, has made a surprise come back in the last few days of 2008. MacVittie has been tapped to run Marc USA Indianapolis. MacVittie sold her majority share stake in the company in 1999 to retire in the Carolinas, but when her ex-partner, Darlene Muncy came around saying the Marc wanted to sell, well, Paula was down for the cause. She has since renamed the shop Caldwell VanRiper, which was its original name before Marc USA from about 1910 to 1980. Get all that?
“This is the fourth recession I’ve been through,” MacVittie told the Indianapolis Business Journal. “We grew through the first three, and we expect to grow during this one.” She also said that “We plan to go after Indiana-based multinational companies,” she said. “I think we’ll turn some heads in this industry.”

Before calling it quits, may would be surprised at why adult entertainment would suddenly come out of nowhere and see financial assistance as well. While many key sectors of the industry like automotive and banking have made their concerns heard, will the adult entertainment world get attention as well? It doesn’t seem likely.
Among those with their hands out to Congress for financial help are “Hustler” magazine publisher Larry Flynt and “Girls Gone Wild,” chief executive officer Joe Francis, who are asking for $5 billion in bailouts.
It seems that if you categorize bailouts, anyone knows that it will be a matter of priorities. How much has adult entertainment contributed towards the economy and what would happen if they would close down.
The answer to that is something Larry Flynt and Joe Francis may not want to know.

WASHINGTON (AdAge.com) — Looks like there'll be no need to mark those calendars for the digital-TV transition on Feb. 17. It now seems more likely than not to get postponed, probably to June, broadcast executives said today.
This is supposed to be bad, right? Dear heavens. Sweet Jesus. We’ll steal one readers quote and wrap this hot mess up with, “It makes me hope for a nuclear holocaust.”
As promised, we headed over to R/GA today for a tour and brief run-down of the agency. We walked out of there understanding more about why this shop does it’s thing so well, an appreciation for in-house digital studios and a complete set of The One Show books (sweet!).
Immediately upon entering the fashion district-based shop (39th b/n 8th n 9th) it’s evident that there’s a theme. After shaking hands with SVP Managing Director Corp. Comm. Karen Spiegel (our tour guide for the day), we learned that the whole place is Bauhaus themed. White walls smattered with artwork provide a blank canvas for thought and pondering — simple ideas (eh hem, Nike+) are prodded by caffeine courtesy the fancy coffee bar. We had water.
What was once a production shop for movies like Alien (oddly enough, Spiegel is a dead ringer for that film’s star, Sigourney Weaver) is today a digital agency that’s still rooted in gettin’ shit done, in 360 degrees.
Here’s how it’s not a traditional shop. Technology plays a greater role here than we realized, typified by “technical creatives” who sit in the same space as the writers, artists and whatnot. Ideas come from everywhere, including the people who know how gadgets work. No writer/art director silos here.
After checking out the main digs, we sauntered across the street to the newly remodeled digital studio. This 40-person office is equipped to the balls with all the digital production equipment one could need. In fact, head of production Vin Farrell told us they’re capable of doing much more than what R/GA was made famous for back in the day. From shooting to rendering to tracking sound (the sound booth was amazingly quiet…if we worked there, we’d surely sneak in for a moment of zen now and then) it’s all right there.
Our favorite part of the afternoon was the natural vibe of the place, which was typified in my conversation with Spiegel. We’ve been inside shops that aim to “wow” with their colorful walls and kitschy “creative spaces,” but as David Ogilvy said his entire life, creativity isn’t comprehensible. Extrapolating from that idea, we argue that it’s near-impossible to create a space for it to flourish (at least, not by painting puke in technicolor). R/GA favors dimly lit, monstrously open spaces, which to us felt calming and detoxifying. Plain, simple, effective.
Upon exiting the building, we shot the video you see above. In it, we show you what some R/GAer uses to get to work. It’s called a Can-Am BRP. Check it out, here, or see a video of one in action, after the jump. Our crappy long-board doesn’t hold a flame.
For Radiohead fanatics, this is ad may just be a bit of Wikipedia chum. For just about everyone else, it's a pretty disturbing image of homelessness framed with a wreath of ambient tones.
Is Fallon Minneapolis crawling its way out of the shitter? Maybe so. Maybe it’s all that offi-sod some folks have put in their cubicles. Perhaps, it has something to do with the return of creative Chris Wiggins? Or, maybe, the pendulum has just swung a little right. It always does.
Fallon has recently won the Boston Market account. People are chatting about work they’ve done namely, the recent commercials for The Ladders – love or hate ’em – they are generating noise. Take a look at the moderate bump in The Ladders Alexa stats below. Not , but nice enough.
The agency has also been creating work for United Arab Emirates-based Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, which will kick off in 2009. It’s worth noting that the bank has ended its relationship with the NYSE, but hey – work is work, no?
And really, Fallon has been struggling for a long time. It’s nice to see them make a few headlines, grab some work.
