To nail down what great CMOs have in common, I spoke with Greg Welch, the highly respected search consultant at Spencer Stuart. Welch believes that CMOs may have swung too far to the data/performance side of their jobs at the risk of forgetting their role as organizational leaders, a characteristic that separates the average from the great. Encouraging CMOs to build a peer network and to create their own board of advisors, Welch also warns of constant self-promotion.

To get people tuning in to audiobooks, Audible is yanking stories off the page and plunging readers right into the narrative. At New York Comic Con last weekend, the seller and producer of downloadable audiobooks partnered with Pottermore Publishing for a Potter-themed activation “A Harry Potter Pensieve Experience” that showed off audio clips of the books in an interactive setting.
The activation was inspired by the books’ Hogwarts Pensieve, which lets people relive their memories.
We chatted with Audible SVP of content marketing and merchandising Sara Moscowitz about why Audible is investing in the medium. “To be able to have that in-person and real-life experience, the type of impression that creates on a consumer is invaluable,” she says. Watch the video for more.
The brightest spot here is at No. 1, Hulu’s “Never Get Hulu,” thanks to a celeb cast doing their acting thing pretty well. In general, though, the landscape is a little dull this week. An old-school Sensodyne commercial starring (actual?) dentists in white smocks (note: we have never seen a dentist in a white smock) droning on about teeth pretty much sums things up. Though, yeah, we perked up when we heard we could be eating chocolate ice cream again. Not that we have teeth problems.
As always, and quite pointedly this week in particular, the view counts reflect both organic views initiated by consumers and paid views generated through ad placements
