Pharma and consumer-health giant GlaxoSmithKline is reviewing its massive global media account, according to people familiar with the matter. The marketer spent about $1.7 billion on advertising in 2017, according to Ad Age Datacenter.
In 2015, GSK awarded its global media business to incumbents Omnicom’s PHD and WPP’s Mediacom, Ad Age reported at the time. That came two years after GSK consolidated the bulk of its global media buying and planning account with WPP’s GroupM, while keeping PHD as its lead media agency for the U.S. in 2013.
The marketer did not respond immediately to a request for comment. PHD referred comment to the client; MediaCom didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Snap Inc. said Chief Financial Officer Drew Vollero is stepping down, and named Amazon.com Inc. executive Tim Stone to replace him.
The Los Angeles-based company, owner of the Snapchat mobile photo-sharing app, says Vollero will depart on May 15. His exit isn’t related to any disagreement about Snap’s accounting, operations or other practices, the company says.

The background noise inside an airplane affects your taste perception. It enhances umami and bitter tastes, while reducing salty and sweet tastes. This got us thinking, how can we improve the in-flight dining experience and offer true Nordic flavors to passengers on board Finnair flights?
We recorded pure, natural sounds from Nordic Lapland with Finnair signature chef Steven Liu. And together with professor of molecular gastronomy Anu Hopia, we turned the recordings into unique soundscapes for each of the dishes served on board flights from Asia. Each soundtrack was made to enhance the flavors of the different dishes.
To offer a truly unique Nordic experience wherever you are, we also created a WeChat app for the Chinese audience. Take a picture of your food and advanced image recognition software interprets it and offers you a customized soundtrack for you to enjoy. The Nordic soundscapes will enhance the unique flavors of any recognizable food you are eating. Now, anyone can easily enjoy the taste of the Finnair experience, even on the ground.
