Jupiter Ascending / Warner Bros.: Game

See the work at http://cainesquest.jupiterascending.com

For the premiere of Jupiter Ascending, Warner Bros. Pictures partnered with Thinkingbox to produce an innovative WebGL experience to support the film’s release. With a storyline that depicts an extraterrestrial battle for the universe and an unsuspecting hero stepping up to save humankind from its imminent demise, the film is a stunningly ambitious space adventure in the truest sense. By utilizing cutting-edge technology in a novel way, we created a web-based console-inspired game unlike anything else on the market. The game’s objective is to give users a chance to explore the world of Jupiter Ascending and join the fight to save Earth. Following the narrative of the film, players interact as the main protagonist, Caine Wise, fighting a variety of ruthless enemies to save Jupiter Jones from the clutches of the Abrasax dynasty. The game concludes in dramatic fashion with the explosive rescue of Jupiter from the vicious Sargorn.

Universal Truths at the Heart of Iconic Technology Brand

Here’s some copy we can all pay attention to: “Ideas are scary. They come into this world ugly and messy. Ideas are frightening because they threaten what is known. They are the natural born enemy of the way things are.” Damn. That is impressive. Let’s see it in action… The personification of a scary idea, […]

Snickers Took Over the Back of SI's Swimsuit Issue With a Ssssplendid 'You're Not You' Ad

Snickers and BBDO New York have followed up their brilliant “Brady Bunch” Super Bowl ad with an inspired print piece—taking over the back cover of Sports Illustrated’s new Swimsuit Issue with this fantastic “You’re not your when you hungry” ad.

Hannah Davis, of course, is on the front cover of the magazine. But on the back is a much less traditionally attractive female—Medusa, in fact, whom models apparently act like when they haven’t had a Snickers in a while.

Cynics will suggest models are always hungry, and wouldn’t be caught dead rectifying that fact by wolfing down a Snickers bar in public. But leaving aside the issues of verisimilitude, this is a pretty great ad and media placement. The recasting of Sports Illustrated as “Super Irritated” is a particularly nice touch.

See the front cover, and credits for the Snickers ad, below.

Nancy Hannon Joins Leo Burnett as EVP/ECD

nancy hannonToday in News We Missed, Leo Burnett Chicago officially hired creative veteran Nancy Hannon in December and made the news official last week; she now holds the EVP/ECD title.

Burnett was one of the big winners of last November’s Kraft shakeup, and Hannon will manage the teams working on that client’s Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Crystal Light, and Breakstone’s brands in addition to Kellogg’s Special K.

The hire marks a return of sorts for Chicago native Hannon, who spent more than a decade working on food and consumer goods accounts with Leo Burnett earlier in her career. Prior to joining Leo, she spent 18 months as EVP/ECD at EnergyBBDO, where she ran creative for Quaker as well as various Bayer vitamin brands and simultaneously worked on new business.

Earlier in her career, Hannon spent five years with the Martin Agency, serving as SVP/GCD on accounts including Wal-Mart, the American Cancer Society, Hanes, and more. Other prominent roles include VP/CD on Sears at Y&R Chicago and several years spent as a freelancer with clients ranging from Always to Energizer.

Agency CEO Susan Credle writes:

“Nancy is known as a leader in portraying women in advertising with attitude, intelligence and depth. We welcome her contributions and leadership in this space.”

Despite Hannon’s move and Wieden+Kennedy’s hiring of Pereira & O’Dell ECD Jaime Robinson, readers and their comments tell us that the industry at large has yet to reach a long-promised new chapter in the “creative women in advertising” conversation.
