X-Men Love X-Tra Bacon
Posted in: UncategorizedOne may need to employ mutant superpowers to take down the two X-Tra servings of bacon on the new Western X-Tra Bacon Cheeseburger and X-Tra Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit from Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s.
The brands’ promotional tie-in with 20th Century Fox’s release of X-Men: Days of Future Past kicked off today with the premiere of “Mystique”.
Additional spots from creative agency 72andSunny starring two more X-Men characters will be revealed in April.
Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are also inviting fans to unleash their inner mutants and participate in the “X-Men Digital Makeover”. By submitting a photo while eating or drinking a Carl’s Jr. or Hardee’s product on Instagram using the hashtag #EatLikeYouMeanIt, fans get the chance to receive a photo mutant makeover.

Posted in: UncategorizedFacebook Buys Virtual Reality Device Maker In Bet On ‘Platform of Tomorrow’
Posted in: UncategorizedFacebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg thinks he’s discovered the future of social-networking: connecting people in a virtual world.
That’s the rationale he offered for Facebook’s announced $2-billion purchase of Oculus VR, an Irvine, Calif.-based virtual-reality company that’s currently working on a headset for 3-D gaming. The long-term notion is for people to have face-to-face interactions with each other, not just to post in each other’s news feeds.
“Oculus has the potential to be the most social platform ever,” he said. “Today social networks are about sharing moments, but tomorrow it will be about sharing experiences.”
Facebook Buys Virtual Reality Device Maker Oculus VR for $2 Billion Cash and Stock
Posted in: UncategorizedFacebook said it will buy virtual-technology company Oculus VR Inc. for about $2 billion, in its first push into the hardware-technology industry.
The deal includes $400 million in cash and 23.1 million Facebook shares, as well as an additional $300 million if the acquisition achieves certain milestones, the Menlo Park, California-based company said in a statement today.
Facebook has ramped up its dealmaking this year as it works to beef up its mobile business. The social network acquired mobile photo-sharing application Instagram in 2012 for about $700 million. The company agreed to buy mobile messaging app WhatsApp Inc., which has 450 million users worldwide, for about $19 billion last month. Oculus, based in Irvine, California, makes a virtual reality headset for gaming.
