From what we’ve been told, her day-to-day responsibilities at GH will be transitioned to a longtime senior employee in in the finance department–though no word yet on who this person exactly is. Mentos Personalizes News Bulletins For the ‘Selfie’ Generation

Mentos is capitalizing on the narcissism that fuels social media by creating personalized news bulletins that make your Facebook activity look exciting enough to be broadcast on network television.

As part of Mentos’ “Stay Fresh” campaign, Bartle Bogle Hegarty London has launched a global digital platform that creates individual video reports using an app — on Facebook or standalone — called “Fresh News.”

The bulletins make up a 24-hour news channel that serves up a constant stream of humorous news reports by pulling in material from users’ updates on Facebook and connected social media accounts, including Foursquare. Two news anchors present a satirical show highlighting a user’s recent escapades, and emphasizing how “fresh” the subject may or may not be, depending on what he or she has been posting lately.

R/GA Makes Some Cuts

It appears that the numbers on the Spy line basically checked out as an R/GA spokesperson has confirmed that the IPG-owned agency, which now houses 13 global offices, has had to reduce staff this week. Here’s the statement that pretty much sums it up:

“R/GA’s growth and the expansion of offices have led to the creation of a new model in New York, which has been broken out into eight groups that function as independent agencies. The implementation of this model has led to a realignment of staff, and 23 positions across departments and capabilities in the New York office will be affected. This reduction represents less than 2% of our staff. We regret to see these talented staff members depart, and hope that we’ll see some of them return in the future.

R/GA is growing in New York and expanding internationally, which shows that our movement to a group model is working. These necessary changes ensure that R/GA will continue to maintain the highest standards of creative work and client support.”

Former NBC Digital Exec Launches Bomoda to Sell Luxury to the Chinese

The idea for Bomoda originated, as ideas often do, at a dinner. Brian Buchwald’s dining companion one night in fall 2011 was a Chinese woman from London, who said the city had become overrun by “a massive influx of Chinese tourists … looking for places to go and things to buy but appearing totally clueless in the process,” he recalled. “It was one of those moments when you say, ‘Huh.'”

Mr. Buchwald, a former NBC exec who was the network’s lead on Hulu during the platform’s launch, probed deeper and discovered China, by some accounts, constitutes 30% of global market share in the luxury industry. Chinese luxury consumers are much younger than their Western counterparts and do a significant amount of online research about brands and products.

“If you create a relationship with them, that relationship can be very valuable for many years,” said Mr. Buchwald, Bomoda’s CEO. Co-founders are editor-in-chief Suki Sun and COO Alain Rothstein.
