Elas já foram de tudo quanto é jeito e há algumas que nunca chegamos a conhecer de verdade. Outras, têm feito parte de nossa vida há tanto tempo, que quando passam por algum tipo de transformação, é impossível não notar. Estamos falando das barras de rolagem – ou scrollbars, se você preferir.

A história começa em 1981, com o Xerox Star, segue com o icônico Macintosh, em 1984, e Windows, em 1985, passa pelo NeXTstep (1989), até o OS X Lion, em 2011.

É divertido ver como elas foram mudando, não só na forma, como também no propósito. Se no começo as barras de rolagem serviam para movimentar a tela, hoje em dia são poucas as pessoas que as usam para isso, deixando-as apenas como uma guia.
