Ela só conseguiu US$ 220, mas prometeu para a mãe que se esforçaria mais no ano seguinte.
Nã deu tempo. Em 23 de julho de 2011, Rachel morreu em um trágico acidente de carro em Seattle, o que gerou uma comoção nacional em torno da sua vontade.
Em apenas um mês, 1.2 milhão de dólares foram doados para a ONG em nome da garota, o que significaria 60 mil pessoas beneficiadas com água potável.
