Eminem cria ARG através do Twitter para promover seu álbum “The Relapse”

Em uma lição que certamente aprendeu com Trent Reznor do Nine Inch Nails (ganhador do GP em Cannes Lios 2008), o rapper Eminem colocou em prática um mini-ARG para promover o seu novo álbum, “The Relapse”. Ainda que menos complexa e mais curta, a ação desenvolvida pela agência Omelet de Los Angeles utilizou um meio que Reznor ainda não tinha quando lançou seu “Year Zero”: o Twitter.

O próprio Eminem é que dava pistas em seu Twitter de como os fãs poderiam se envolver com o ARG, com referências as suas experiências reais de vida e abuso de drogas. A deixa foi a foto abaixo, que sugere que o rapper estava em um centro de reabilitação chamado Popsomp Hills, também interpretado como “pop some pills”.

Procurando no Google pelo nome da clínica fictícia, um site corporativo especialmente criado para a campanha conta sobre o lugar, revelando um email e telefone de contato. Quem liga ou manda um email, recebe mensagens pré-gravadas que remetem as novas músicas.

A proposta da agência com o ARG foi criar um universo paralelo, totalmente alusivo ao conceito do disco “The Relapse”, para atingir a base de fãs de Eminem, e eles mesmos se tornarem os evangelistas do lançamento. O próprio Paul Rosenberg, empresário de Eminem, revela que esse não é nem de perto o maior investimento em marketing do artista, mas certamente é o mais criativo.

Eminem continuou twittando para dar suporte ao storytelling do ARG, ao mesmo tempo que revelava as primeiras informações e imagens da capa do álbum, do site oficial (com um tour pela clínica Popsomp Hills), do game de iPhone, do novo clipe, etc.

Segundo a Intercope Records, os resultados de uma campanha que utiliza novos meios e de baixo custo são surpreendentes, já que tornou Eminem um dos artistas mais comentados no Twitter com o buzz gerado por ele próprio. Em uma semana, o rapper ganhou 41.1704 seguidores em seu perfil, além de 113.868 visitantes únicos no site Eminem.com.

Com o álbum nas lojas e o case criado, ontem a noite ele mesmo anunciou: “This game is over… Thanks for playing.”
