In conjunction with September, Hunger Action Month, the Cheesecake Factory is launching the Drive Out Hunger Tour to collect 100,000 cans of soup for local food banks. Working with Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief charity, the tour will visit a different Cheesecake Factory restaurant every day in September.

Antes os karaokês e videokês eram moda. Até pouco tempo atrás eles pareceram ressurgir, em uma vibe nostálgica de culto as músicas bregas do passado. Acontece que os karaokês também foram digitalizados, e agora deixaram aquela imagem vintage de lado para se tornarem um brinquedo cool de adolescentes e adultos que rende bilhões de dólares anualmente. Isso tem nome: as franquias “Guitar Hero” e “Rock Band”.

E os mesmos bares do passado que ofereciam divertidas noites com sessões de karaokê, agora trocam os velhos equipamentos pelos kits completos dos games musicais fabricados pela Activision e pela Harmonix. O pessoal do “Rock Band” pensou um pouco mais, e decidiu oficializar esses eventos pelo mundo todo.

O dono do bar que se cadastrar no programa Rock Band: Bar Nights terá o direito de utilizar todo o material visual oficial, e ainda ter acesso a todo o catálogo de músicas disponíveis para download do jogo, mais de 800.

Mais do que isso, a Harmonix promete promover as Rock Band Nights dos bares nos canais do produto, além de oferecer uma equipe de suporte para os bares. É, no fim das contas, uma “faca de dois legumes”: o bar oficializa a festa e tem acesso gratuito as músicas, e a Harmonix amplia o acesso e a experimentação das pessoas ao seu produto.

Imagine quanta gente, que nunca se interessou por videogames, não vai ter vontade de comprar um “Rock Band” pra levar pra casa depois?
