The visuals of that new INfluencia campaign use paraeidolia, a process of illusion, to immerse us in the soul of this abandoned spirit. The interior of an abandoned house is a symbol of this. Confusing images, because each room gives the strange impression of entering an empty soul. Two windows become the illustration of an inert gaze. Unoccupied, the gaze reflects wandering. The one we don’t want to face. The one we’re afraid of. A puddle or a degraded wooden plank is reminiscent of blissful mouths. The whole describes a frozen portrait. The one who has disconnected from the present and will not face the future.

Cleft condition is just a physical defect rather than a capability defect. However, it can result in prejudice, causing children to lose many opportunities from their birth.
Ordinary people can hardly feel the unfairness. Using facial recognition technology and AI algorithm, we created an interactive interface on Tencent WeChat, the biggest social media platform in China, turning people’s faces into children’s with cleft condition.
The campaign received a strong response with over 70,000 faces donated and money donated by more than 56,000 people.
But it’s not just about fundraising.
It also gave the public an intuitive perception of the unfairness those kids could face, provoking thinking of this disease.

They bravely posted these imperfect portraits on social media platform and asked, “what if I were born with cleft condition?”
The campaign made an enormous splash on Tencent WeChat, the biggest social media platform in China.
For the first time, the disease got exposed to people on such a large scale, raising public awareness of it.
