First Call: Pillcase

Print
First Call

A common symbol of prescription medication in the U.S. is the plastic pill case. In these ads, a pill case is CGI-rendered into a metaphor for the grim reality of opioid addiction. The renderings are exquisitely detailed, featuring unique characters and environments. Each character is hyper-realistic with details and features that suggest an independent backstory. These characters trapped inside pill cases are eye-catching and alarming — a powerful symbol of the human cost of the opioid epidemic.

Sydney Opera House: The Sydney Opera House Seal

Online
Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House attracts 8.2 million visitors each year – yet despite its popularity, recent market research revealed that three in four Sydneysiders haven’t seen a show in the last year.

There is a need to challenge misconceptions that the Opera House was only for classical arts, and to increase understanding and awareness to millennials about the diverse and inspiring experiences on offer.

After a competitive pitch late last year, The Works and sister specialist messaging agency On Message, were tasked with getting the word out, and in such a saturated event market they needed to make a real splash.

The solution was to bring in the big guns – Seal. Nope, not that guy. The lovable Opera House seal, who has swapped his days sunning himself on the northern steps of the Opera House to become the first ever voice of the performing arts centre’s new chatbot.

Metro: The Newspaper Camera

Film
Metro

In the middle of the technological universe of the 21st century, every moment, every landscape or situation is recorded by the lens of a photographic camera, whether it is professional, amateur or smartphones. This moment is even more important when the access to these resources becomes democratic and easily to all. In this concept, Artplan had turned a book jacket advertising of Metro Newspaper into a Pinhole, a camera without lens.

The purpose of the action was to communicate the Metro Photo Challenge and the winners of 2017 Metro Newspaper photography contest in Brazil and worldwide, as well as encouraging participation for 2018 edition. “We started from the concept that in the contest, the world’s most democratic photo shoot, even those who do not have a camera, can use the newspaper to create their own and participate”, says Zico Farina, Artplan Creative Director.
