Animals unfortunately, cannot talk. And because they can’t talk, they can’t share. But imagine for a second, if they could. Imagine if they were loaded with the same ammunition we had, namely cameras and mobile phones. What would they show? This campaign explores that. And it asks the viewer to share their pain, because they can’t.

En fuego: NBA playoff ad inventory is selling like Slurpees in Hell

The two-month NBA playoffs juggernaut is set to tip off Saturday afternoon, and ad inventory is selling like Slurpees in Hell, as the league’s broadcast partners estimate that some 90 percent of the available commercial time already has been snapped up by marketers shilling everything from fast food to summer popcorn movies.

And while the NBA postseason is always a must-buy for a number of youth-skewing categories, interest in this year’s 16-team tournament is particularly elevated, given how the league has managed to defy the gravitational forces that have dragged down the ratings for pretty much everything else on TV. According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the NBA during the 2017-18 season enjoyed its highest audience deliveries in four years, with the combined viewership across ESPN, ABC, TNT and NBA TV up 8 percent year-over-year to 1.28 million viewers.

Basketball fans who tune in for this weekend’s slate of games will notice that TNT and ESPN/ABC for the first time have lined up presenting sponsorships for their respective live playoff packages. TNT has inked a comprehensive deal securing Hulu as the presenting sponsor of its full slate of postseason coverage, ranging from the first round all the way to the Western Conference Finals in mid-May. Meanwhile, ESPN and its broadcast sibling ABC have locked in PepsiCo’s breakfast drink Mountain Dew Kickstart as the marquee backer of their first-round playoff action.

Aflac quacks up quick commercial

It usually takes Aflac two to three months to produce a 30-second spot, but this weekend, they’re narrowing that timeline down to 48 hours. Ahead of the Academy of Country Music Awards, the insurer plans to produce a commercial featuring musician Chris Young along with the recipient of the new Aflac Lifting Lives Honor award. The spot, which will also feature Aflac’s signature spokesduck, will air during Sunday’s event and include footage from the weekend, including the announcement of the Lifting Lives honoree, a person prominent in the music-therapy industry.

Aflac worked with Dick Clark Productions, which produces the ACM Awards, on the new spot.

The new spot is part of a larger strategy recently introduced by Catherine Hernandez-Blades, a four-year veteran of the Columbus, Georgia-based brand who was promoted to chief brand and communications officer and senior VP last October. She’s already initiated a review earlier this year of Aflac’s creative agency, Publicis, which has held the business for several years.

Intel outside: How the chipmaker is pitching itself as 'not stuck inside a PC'

Last year Intel, the chipmaker best known to the wider world for its “Intel Inside” tagline, decided to pivot from being a PC-centric company to a data-centric one. It has invested heavily in artificial intelligence, the internet of things, drones, autonomous cars and more. Those data-centric businesses made up 47 percent of revenues in fiscal 2017, underscoring the diminished importance of the PC to its business.

“We need to make sure the future tech buyers of the world understand we’re not just a chip in a PC,” says Intel’s Alyson Griffin, who is charged with telling that story. “We need to make sure we’re not stuck inside a PC.”

Watch the Pro-Mueller ad from Republicans afraid Trump's going to fire the special counsel

A report by Maggie Haberman and Michael S. Schmidt in today’s New York Times is headlined “Trump, Angry About Reports of Subpoenas, Nearly Fired Mueller in December.” And an opinion column by Jennifer Rubin published online this morning by The Washington Post is titled “The White House says Trump can fire Mueller. That should give Republicans heartburn.”

Judging from the just-released ad above, plenty of Republicans are already popping Prisolec at the prospect of the president trying to put an end to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation by ousting the man himself. It was created by a group called Republicans for the Rule of Law, which was founded by conservative commentator Bill Kristol. The ad is slated to appear today on D.C.-market cable news channels, including on Fox News during President Trump’s favorite TV show, “Fox & Friends.”

“In Vietnam,” an announcer says in voice-over at the start of the ad, “Robert Mueller rescued fallen Marines under enemy fire and was awarded a Bronze Star for valor.” It goes on like that, laying out Mueller’s credentials while conspicuously never mentioning a certain someone who famously got out of serving in Vietnam on a “bone spurs” deferment (plus four educational deferments). A series of GOP leaders are also shown saying things in support of Muellerincluding Vice President Mike Pence, who says “The special counsel has a job to do”before closing with an appeal: “Call your representative,” the announcer urges, “and tell them to protect the Mueller investigation.”

More brands exit 'Ingraham Angle,' but one comes back and ad loads hold steady

More of Laura Ingraham’s sponsors joined the boycott bandwagon this week, but even as companies like Red Lobster and SlimFast pulled their ads from her Fox News show, the cable news behemoth has managed to keep commercial levels steady.

“The Ingraham Angle” aired 16 national commercials on Thursday night from 12 brands, according to iSpot.TV. That’s up from Ingraham’s return from vacation on Monday, when the show included nine commercials from seven advertisers, if down significantly from commercial time before the boycott began on March 28.

Ace Hardware, which pulled its ads from “The Ingraham Angle” on April 5, reappeared in Thursday night’s episode with two commercials. The company had previously said that it would no longer run ads in the program.

The New York Post and Daily News have graciously summarized Comey's book for you

To bring yourself up to speed on the conversation surrounding former FBI Director James Comey’s new memoir, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” you could read something in-depth and thoughtful about it, such as Michiko Kakutani’s review in The New York Times.

Or you could read something less in-depth and thoughtful, such as “6 things you should know about the Comey book and the media frenzy around it.”

Or, screw it, you could just skim this morning’s front pages of New York City’s leading tabloids and be done with it:
