The Lights of New York

Camouflage Body Wallpaper Art

This Hipster Business Name Generator Is About to Become Your New Obsession

Forget all those sites that randomly generate band names, stripper names and hobbit names. This one could make you rich, my friends. Brooklyn rich!

The Hipster Business Name Generator creates a random combination of quirky nouns and drops them under a stylized X, with the requisite stylish dingbats and initials. The resulting names—such as Fox & Otter, Spyglass & Bean, Whiskey & Cake—are good for a laugh, especially when paired with icons of tiny rabbits, knives and muffins.

The site, which was quickly generating passaround among creative types today, seems to be a marketing effort for domain registration site NamesCheap.com, where you can conveniently book a site for your lovely new business venture. Or maybe the creators simply picked a booking site at random, though that seems unlikely.

Try it for yourself and let us know your most fruitful combinations. A few of our favorites below.

Hat tip to my friend Paul Crawford for sharing this on Facebook, though to be clear, his agency’s not the one behind it.

“Fazer inspira”, conclui ele.

Uber said in a blog post today that it hired Harriet Pearson, formerly the chief privacy officer at IBM and now a partner at Hogan Lovells, to work with the San Francisco-based startup. Pearson said in a phone call that she will work for Uber as a legal adviser.

“Our business depends on the trust of the millions of riders and drivers who use Uber,” Uber wrote in the blog. “Hogan Lovell will conduct an in-depth review and assessment of our existing data privacy program.”

Watch Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanual Proclaim Laura Desmond Day

In case you’re wondering what day it is, and you live in Chicago, wonder no more.

It’s “officially” Laura Desmond day, said Mayor Rahm Emanuel in a video addressing the Chicago Advertising Federation. “Unofficially,” every day can be considered Laura Desmond Day, according to Mr. Emanuel, who praised the global CEO of Publicis’ Starcom MediaVest Group for “putting Chicago smarts and ingenuity on display in a different country almost every day of the year.”

If you’re wondering what triggered the honor now, Ms. Desmond was just named the Advertising Woman of the Year by the Chicago Advertising Federation, an honor that typically earns a video from the mayor, according to a Starcom MediaVest spokeswoman.

First SuperHeroes NY Campaign Stars Birds with Arms Because Why Not?

SuperHeroes is an Amsterdam-based agency that just established its first stateside office here in our fair city of New York. How do we know this? Because we just received the agency’s first “American” campaign.

The New York move, which prompted AdAge to speculate that SuperHeroes might be “the first Dutch ad agency in Manhattan,” came on the heels of a big win: Korean computer giant Asus.

The agency’s new work promotes that client — and, as promised in our headline, it stars a multitasking bro with feathers, or “The World’s Most Modern Bird”:

Sounds like he works in finance…but he did say “titmouse.”
