Dollar Shave Club Bets on a Stealth Craze: Butt Wipes for Men

Dollar Shave Club, the venture-financed subscription service that burst on the scene last year with a viral video to challenge the likes of Procter & Gamble Co., is looking to do the same thing this year with wet toilet paper for men.

Seriously. One Wipe Charlies get their official launch June 4 with a video for a product many men use even if they don’t talk about it as much as razors. The video is produced by the same team as last year’s razor video and written by Mr. Dubin.

“Our goal is to own the bathroom and to be the easiest place for guys to get the things they use every day,” said Dollar Shave Club CEO Michael Dubin.

Netflix Deal Over, Viacom Takes Dora and SpongeBob to Amazon Prime

Amazon has swooped in on the streaming rights to hundreds of TV shows from Viacom’s stable of cable channels after Netflix allowed its deal with the cable giant to expire.

The new multi-year agreement between Amazon and Viacom will bring children’s shows from Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. including "Blue’s Clues," "Victorious" and "The Backyardigans" as well as MTV and Comedy Central series such as "Awkward," "Tosh.0" and "Workaholics" to the Amazon Prime streaming service. Amazon Prime subscribers will also have access to future episodes of "Dora the Explorer" and "SpongeBob SquarePants," among other shows.

Amazon will be the only subscription streaming service to offer certain Viacom library content, the companies said, including past seasons of Nick Jr. series such as "Blue’s Clues" and "Dora" as well as other networks’ shows.

AKQA’s Chee Splits for MRY? (Updated)

Well, a phone call confirms at the very least that Ian Chee, who’s spent the last three years give or take as director, co-head of strategy/planning at AKQA New York, is no longer with the agency. From what we’ve been told on the Spy line, Chee’s moved over to fellow NYC operation MRY (formerly Mr. Youth), which of course merged with LBi a few months ago, to serve as its head of planning. We’ve been told that Chee assumed his post at MRY this week, but as far as his old position at AKQA goes, no word yet if there are any immediate plans to replace him.

Prior to AKQA, Chee held senior strategic planning positions in both the Asia-Pacific region and New York at the likes of Leo Burnett, McCann (global lead on Intel and Pfizer) and Digitas (on Delta among other clients).

Update: MRY has confirmed that Chee has indeed joined the agency as chief strategy officer and will oversee all planning and strategic output across its U.S. offices (counting NYC, Atlanta, San Francisco and soon, L.A.). With Chee’s arrival, MRY has in turn promoted Matt Rednor, who’s been with the agency since 2010, from chief strategy/innovation officer to simply chief innovation officer.
