Comment on ADDA Tunisie: Mario, Scorsese, Elton by Alan

It’s a nice attempt, but it won’t have any impact. Kuddos to JWT, Tunisia for trying though. All the advertising in the world wouldn’t be able to convince the general populace to take a stance against getting quality content for nothing.

It also doesn’t help that they use established, big-wig names. Sure, there’s recognition, but who could feel bad for Nintendo, Scorsese or Elton John? They’ve made a fuckload of money already, they’re rich, and will continue to be so regardless of piracy. Those really being hurt are those just now entering the entertainment industry, especially music wise. Most musical artists get fuckall for their work and make most of their profits from merch and ticket sales.

These industries need to accept that piracy will continue to thrive and that if they want to keep making money they need to offer the consumer more incentive to give it. The oldest of these industries is only about 90 years old. That’s a pretty good run if you ask me, but inevitably times change, the market changes, and as a result, your approach needs to change as well.
