Durex Play Lubricant – Trainwreck – print p.o.s Australia
Posted in: UncategorizedSpinach, Melbourne need to communicate the benefit of Durex Play lubricant in an environment that has an audience ranging from children to old prudes, so this Point of Sale poster for Durex PLay Lubricant had to have a perceived ‘G’ rating, yet not.
We all know what trains and tunnels symbolize, as Hitchcock once quipped that need not show sex scenes in films as he had “already shown everything” in North By Northwest when the train enters the tunnel.
This trainwreck isn’t a train entering a tunnel, obviously and that’s the clever. But I’m getting the opposite in my head, lots of logs leaving a tunnel. Oh sorry, I shouldn’t have gone there.

Paws Malaysia – Free The dog – print, Malaysia
Posted in: Uncategorized
In vets office around Malaysia these classic “number” posters with a twist we’re placed. The numbers are bars, keeping the dog caged, and when someone goes to take a number, the entire bar from the cage peels off.
“It proved so popular they ran out of tabs to replace on the posters within a week.” says Dentsu.

Tropicana smoothie – Fireworks campaign
Posted in: Uncategorized DDB London has created this campaign for the new Tropicana smoothies – translating I suppose a “taste explosion” into actual firework like explosions. Kind of neat looking, however I’m nost so sure about the package design where fruits make up flowers. Pretty, sure, but I’m not so keen on drinking flowers. Are you?

National Advertising Awards Canada – Win a trip to Cannes campaign
Posted in: Uncategorized Want to win a trip to Cannes? Want to solve a decent brief? Combine the two!
Taxi 2 decided to mock stereotypical advertising as a way to announce that this competition exists, the briefs are simple, and the prize is a trip to Cannes during the Lions festival. Party on.

Osram – Really powerful bulbs – posters
Posted in: UncategorizedSaatchi & Saatchi South Africa demonstrate how powerful Osrams really powerful lightbulbs are. Answer, very powerful. This “forest” one is the creepiest looking but the kid in school (inside) is – in my humble opinion of course – the simplest execution of the idea. I’m not sure I want my lightbulbs this powerful.

RC Scorpion – Hedgehog – print
Posted in: Uncategorized RC SCORPION remote control cars are tougher than those other remote controlled wimpy toys, and this is how Ogilvy London decided to communicate that.
If you don’t want a remote controlled car, head over to Roadkilltoys for your very own squished raccoon.

Cancer Council – Get your moles checked – newspaper ads
Posted in: Uncategorized
I’m a sucker for any ad that uses the media it runs in to really drive their point home, aren’t you? I’m especially keen on newspaper ads that do this, I’ve tried using those little holes at the bottom of the page in some ad ideas but I’m afraid I had boring clients. This is anything but boring though. Another good execution inside.

Amnesty International – Freedom Pen – insert.
Posted in: Uncategorized
During freedom week these Amnesty International pens ran as inserts in magazines. Once you removed the pen it revealed a message “use your freedom to free others”. The pen was a specially made floaty pen – normally used to strip babes of their bikinis, you know the kind – and as you wrote the bars around the prisoner would slide away. Thus the action of your writing frees him.

Posted in: Uncategorized
Louis Vuitton follows up the much talked about Gorbachev print ad from 2007 with yet another celebrity and their luggage. This time it’s the well-aged and well-preserved Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. At least no one can do any talking about retouching the celebrity in this ad. 😉
Alka seltzer – Piranhas and crocodiles – print Thailand
Posted in: Uncategorized
Another print ad execution for Alka Seltzer from JWT Bangkok, Thailand. Confusing since BBDO Bangkok just did this awesome high-speed stroboscopic photography style campaign which easily falls under the category “teh ossom“. So who in Bangkok has the alka-seltzer account, I wonder? Everybody?
Taj Tea – Divine tea – print, India
Posted in: Uncategorized
Holy stunning photography batman!
The Taj Tea Trail is a tea-tasting event organised by Brooke Bond Taj Mahal tea. Here people get to sample the finest collection of teas and discover fascinating trivia about the drink. These posters, via O&M Mumbai, were created as masterpieces using actual Taj Mahal tea granules. Displayed on easels like work of art, these posters helped glorify this golden drink.
I don’t even drink tea anymore, but these ads are mighty tempting if only to watch the swirls of golden tea escape in the hot water… Mmmm.

World Water Day – how to make water out of urine – print, India
Posted in: Uncategorized For world water day Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai decided to go the educational route and actually tech us how to make your urine drinkable water in this poster, which looks a lot like old school posters in its Art Direction/ Illustration style.
It’s pretty simply actually, all you need is a hole in the ground, a bucket, some tarp and rocks, the sun itself and then of course, your pee. In fact I hear that the übertough French foreign league men and Chilean army soldiers do this all the time. So next time you’re at a loss for water, here you go.

I’ve seen lovely printed tea towels in advertising before, but none punning on the fact that tea towels indeed get wet. Have you?
