Not that bad, but.. ahem.. if I “Put my client hat on” here for a second (quit throwing markers at me!) – couldn’t one say that simply burning the image really isn’t much help at all. I prefer ad ideas where the candle burns the ropes, thus setting prisoners free, that sort of thing. Aw, nevermind me, I’m really stiff today.

F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi’s war on smoking continues with cigarette posters. That is, posters created from cigarettes.

Unimed RJ – WAR! – (2008) :60 (Brazil)
F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, Brazil who created the “war” commercial by animating cigarettes has now released the second part of the campaign, cigarette posters in the city depicting mass killers such as Osama Bin Laden and Hitler.

In the shot below we see how the poster was made on the street – I wonder if the cop behnind him is trying to prevent die-hard addicts from stealing free cigarettes. In fact, I wonder how long those plexiglass posters survived once nightfall hit.

anti smoking QUIT – lung X-Ray adbin, UK

Oh my god, I’m so grossed out. These helpful little bins allow you to dispose of your cigarette butts there, while doubling as a really gross image that may indeed turn you off from smoking, at least temporarily. See, part of the X-ray image is transparent allowing for the accumilated butts inside to be part of the visual. Apparently this is a new medium called “adbins”.

Vespa S – Squareheads (2008) Ambient (Canada)

Dan Bergeron (aka fauxreel) has been very busy this past month plastering Canada with 324 seven-foot-tall Vespa Squareheads wheatpastes to promote the new Vespa S in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

Vespa’s aren’t just scooters, they’re a fashion statement, an extension of the rider. This is particularly true of the Vespa S re-issue. It’s square headlight and mirrors may seem like subtle differences to some but to those who know, it makes the S, and the people who ride them, a breed unto their own. It’s cool, it’s retro, and so are the people that ride them.

Sanyo & Saatchi put one million words on a billboard

When Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand got the Sanyo Xacti CA65 Underwater Camera brief they decided against using any visual and instead made a billboard that will surely get into the guinness book of records – they produced a text-only poster containing one million words.

The world first, 63m poster showed how much more there is to film with the underwater camera compared with the little you could capture with a regular one. Amongst other things, the poster included the world’s most comprehensive marine species list, histories of major tsunami and shipwrecks, and Moby Dick and 20 000 Leagues Under The Sea in their entirety.
