DDB NY Adds a Pair of Senior Creatives

New GCD and More at DDB New York

L to R: Hannah Fishman, Yael Cesarkas, Chris Brown, and Joel Nagy

The “big changes” promised by DDB New York back in November keep coming.

After naming Icaro Doria of W+K São Paulo as its chief creative officer last month, the agency has hired another top creative and a couple more new staffers.

Hannah Fishman will be group creative director and content director. As if to further prove that agencies across the board now fish in the same talent pond, she joins DDB from PR giant Edelman, where she spent more than six years as a VP/creative director. During that time, she worked on digital campaigns for clients such as Samsung, Dove, AXE, and Pfizer.

Her career trajectory is unlike that of other creative directors: before moving into the agency world, she held design positions at Everyday Health, Borders, and the DaimlerChrysler Corporation.

She also doesn’t seem to maintain an online portfolio…

In addition to Fishman, the agency hired Yael Cesarkas as planning director and Joel Nagy as director of digital innovation.

Cesarkas most recently spent nearly four years in planning at R/GA — she joined the shop as senior brand planner and was promoted to associate planning director last January. Cesarkas, who perpetual crank George Tannenbaum calls “everything a planner should be,” will primarily work on strategy for the ExxonMobil account.

Nagy, who has a software background, will specialize in “the development of digital solutions” for DDB clients. Past roles include that of tech director at KBS+ and iris worldwide.

All three will report to the “new leadership team” of Doria and Chris Brown, the former CEO of DDB Australia who moved stateside back in June.

The agency’s most recent work was this ad promoting the NBA All Star Game in New York; expect to see more campaigns soon.

DDB NY Names Chris Brown CEO

DDB New York has named Chris Brown as its new president and chief executive officer, succeeding Peter Hempel, “who shifts to the new role of CEO of DDB Group, a larger collection of agencies that includes DDB, Tribal, DDB Remedy and Uproar@DDB,” Adweek reports. Hempel has held the role of DDB New York CEO since 2005

Brown will begin his new position in September, departing from his role as Australian CEO of DDB Group, which he has held since 2012. Prior to that, Brown served as group managing director at DDB Group Sydney and started out at DDB back in 1997 as business director of DDB London. As president and CEO of the New York office, he will oversee work on such accounts as Johnson & Johnson, ExxonMobil, Unilever,Electrolux, New York Lottery,  Merck, and Cotton.

McCann Toronto’s Peel-Off Tattoo Posters Double as Fading Fast Coupons

Have a tattoo that you regret? Maybe that Alex Rodriguez ink seemed like a good idea at the time. Maybe you thought you’d always love 98 Degrees as much as you did in 1999. But getting a tattoo removed is hard, right?

McCann, Toronto is working on dispelling that conception with their new work for laser removal center Fading Fast. They’ve created an outdoor campaign featuring billboards of tatted-out individuals. The catch? The tattoos can be peeled off to reveal that they are, in fact, coupons for 50% off tattoo laser removal at Fading Fast. McCann’s video for the campaign, featured above, shows people interacting with the posters and gradually removing all the tattoos. Bonus points go to the agency for featuring the music of The Ramones.

The campaign is a clever way of making tattoo removal seem easy, while also giving those who might be interested in removal incentive to go directly to Fading Fast. We suggest Chris Brown avail himself of their services if he’s in Toronto any time soon. Credits after the jump. continued…
