Sawubona Series

In the wake of the Xenophobic attacks on other African nationals in South Africa, we decided to remind South Africa, of its famous phrase with which it welcomes visitors: SAWUBONA (I SEE YOU). The response to this is SHIBOKA (I EXIST FOR YOU). To drive home the point that we are incomplete without the other, we removed ‘U’ from sawubona, with the tagline, I DON’T SEE U. In the second press execution, we put the ‘i’ in shiboka on the ground, symbolising those that have been killed or attacked so far in the violence.
