Walt Disney sets TV upfront plans following Fox acquisition


Walt Disney’s upfront plans are starting to take shape following its acquisition of Fox assets.

The newly expanded Mouse House will host a combined dog-and-pony show that includes ABC, ESPN, Freeform, FX and National Geographic on May 14 in New York City.

This marks the first time that Disney’s upfront will combine its entertainment channels, alongside its sports network. Last year’s presentation combined ABC and Freeform, but ESPN hosted its own event.

Adobe says 'business-to-everyone' is the future


Steve Lucas, senior VP of digital experience at Adobe, is uncharacteristically candid, on topics ranging from the future of cloud marketing to his former employer and now rival, Salesforce (which he says “Doesn’t have creative at its core. Sure, they have a cute bear mascot and that ewok, or whatever it is”).

Last September, Lucas sold his company Marketo to Adobe for nearly $4.8 billion. And on Tuesday, all eyes were on him during Adobe Summit in Las Vegas, the company’s annual conference that attracts some 16,000 people.

To hear him tell it, the notion of separating business-to-business and business-to-consumer tools is archaic. The future, he says, is to merge the two together and create what he calls “b-to-e,” or, “the business to everyone revolution.”

Wow Air shuts down, stranding 2,700 flyers


Wow Air has gone out of business, stranding thousands of passengers and creating potentially huge risks for Iceland’s tiny economy and its growing reliance on tourism.

The discount carrier is the eighth European airline to have failed since the summer as margins are pinched by fluctuating fuel costs and over-capacity that’s sparked a continent-wide fare war.

Wow’s demise should bring short-term relief to local rival Icelandair Hf. Ryanair Holdings Plc, EasyJet Plc and Wizz Air Holdings Plc — Europe’s three biggest discount airlines — also fly to the island in the North Atlantic, whose popularity has grown exponentially in recent years thanks to television shows like Game of Thrones.
