Google Fights Businessman's Attempt to Erase Conviction Links

Google is fighting a businessman in a London court over whether people have the right to purge old convictions from online search results in the U.K.’s first so-called “right to be forgotten” trial.

The man, who can’t be identified by name because of a court order, wants Google to remove links about being found guilty in a false accountancy conspiracy in the late 1990s. Under English law designed to rehabilitate offenders, that conviction doesn’t have to be disclosed to potential employers and can effectively be ignored.

A Google search brings up the information “through a few key strokes,” undermining the law about such spent convictions, Hugh Tomlinson, a lawyer for the complainant, told a court hearing on Tuesday. “Google facilitates information that would otherwise be hard to find.”

Saishunkan Pharmaceutical: Renew Your Vows #StillinLove

“Sometimes, I worry whether he still looks at me as a woman rather than just our child’s mother”. Many mothers with young children may have this vague concern from time to time. This movie is dedicated to all women who need that reassurance. *Especially in Japan, the ratio of divorce at 2-3 years after the 1st child’s birth has been increasing and has became a serious problem. When new parents are able to go out without their baby for the first time, it’s a great opportunity for renewing the wedding vows. It’s an occasion for the new father to say thank you and, state new vows to his wife. Tell your wife that you are still in love with her, even after she became your child’s mom. And, it could be a key to a long-lasting relationship. So please let us know… if you are #StillinLove “romantically” with your wife!

Rokujigen: Kintsugi Pieces in Harmony

PROBLEM: When someone breaks a piece of pottery they love, they will try to repair it rather than throw it away. Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese craft of restoring broken pottery with metal. Rather than repairing the damages with an adhesive, it embellishes the crack with metal, treasuring the history of that damaged pottery. But the wonderful philosophy of Kintsugi
has not passed onto modern-day people who prefer to buy a replacement when something breaks.

IDEA: Used for a theme appealing to modern-day people, new life has been breathed into this traditional Japanese craft. Representing historically-feuding neighboring countries, two dishes have been combined with Kintsugi with the cracks resembling the national border. We cannot forget cultural differences or things that happened in the past, but we appealed for mutual understanding through Kintsugi by producing a new harmonious shape in a single dish.

EXECUTION: Their special dishes are promoted via exhibitions and posters as well as images, so they got the opportunity to come into contact with mote people than usual exhibitions. By seeing the real thing with their own eyes (beautifully harmonious dish divided by a crack embellished with metal),one can understand Kintsugi’s philosophy of treasuring history.

72andSunny Hires 9 In Its Amsterdam Office

Your friends at 72andSunny have expanded their team in the Netherlands by the count of 9.

According to the release, these fine professionals hail from Sweden, Brazil, India, Singapore, the U.S., Australia and the U.K. And they work in nearly every department, too.

Why did the hires come about? Because of new partnerships with clients such as IKEA, eBay, Uber and Johnnie Walker. Also, from the release: “Borne out of the company’s belief that diverse views lead to more progressive, purposeful and efficient work, the recent hires expand the current global talent, which hosts over 30 nationalities.”

72andSunny Amsterdam is on a never-ending mission to throw together the most weird and wonderful humans from the four corners of the world to see what they come up with,” said their partner and managing director Nic Owen. “We’ve got a long, long way to go to get the balance spot on, but this lot are a very decent, very talented bunch that are helping us merrily on our way.”

The new hires include:

  • Group brand director Lauren Portelli
  • Creative directors Anders Stake, Matt Firth and Adam Koppel
  • Strategy director Fernando Ribeiro
  • Senior writer Mareka Stake
  • Executive producer Kerli Teo
  • Brand director Vivek Krishnaswamy
  • Experience design director Mark Jenkins

Professionally, they come to the MDC Partners shop from its L.A. headquarters along with other agencies like BBH London, Wieden + Kennedy India, David.

In related news, a recent report in Australia’s AdNews called the Amsterdam office “the least parochial place in advertising.” Pretty sure that’s a good thing.

Mono Introduces ‘The Fastest Internship Application Process, Ever’

Do you want to apply for an agency internship without devoting more than five minutes to the process? Minneapolis-based independent agency mono is introducing what it’s billing as “the fastest internship application process, ever” for all your limited attention span needs.

The timed application process takes under five minutes, with the agency choosing to  emphasize honesty and immediacy over grammar and long-winded responses.  After uploading a resume and cover letter, and providing contact info, applicants are given 60-seconds to provide a bio. Then they go through a series of questions for which they have 30-seconds to respond, for a total of 3 minutes, which range from what they’d do if a client had spinach stuck in their teeth to crafting a personal tagline.

The agency is looking to fill seven full-time paid internship positions, including copywriter, art director, design director, digital designer, producer, project manager, strategist and video editor.

Harry's Explores Manhood in Rare Tear-Jerker Razor Ad

After helping redefine the razor market with value-priced razors sold mostly online, Harry’s is going a different route as well with its advertising.

In a campaign from new agency GSD&M, Austin, that launches Monday, a 3-minute video follows a fatherless boy who teaches a space alien the definition of “manhood.” The tear-jerker spot, an unusual

approach for the category, focuses on the boy as he teaches the alien typically macho ways of dressing, walking and, of course, shaving. He then asks the visitor if he’s seen his missing father (apparently an astronaut) up in space, and when given a sad look in response, his strong facade crumples a bit and he admits, “The truth is, there’s no one way to be a man.”

Don’t Look Now, but Brim Is Back, Just Not as the Decaf Coffee It Was in the 1970s

If you’re a coffee drinker of a certain age, chances are you remember a long-running series of TV spots for Brim. The settings varied, but the plot was always the same: An all-American, coffee-loving consumer ruefully informs his cohort that while he’d love a big cup of Joe, he can only take half a cup…
