PornHub Says Its Premium Service Is So Incredible, You'll Talk About It at Inappropriate Times

PornHub is back with some more safe-for-work ads. And this time, it’s facetiously trying to insert its brand name into the lexicon, by suggesting the phrase “Pornhub Premium” could become verbal shorthand for saying something is excellent.

The phrase pops up, much to the shock of those who’ve never heard it, in these three new spots, which involve non-porn subject matter like aged cheese, wedding finery and Los Angeles real estate.

McDonald’s actually tried the exact same approach in 2012 with the Egg McMuffin. In the case of PornHub, there’s extra humor in the surprised expressions on the actors’ faces, making it clear that this new particular slang isn’t going to catch on.

But the service itself might. Similar to Netflix, the premium streaming service will offer ad-free HD viewing, exclusive content and faster playback—for a monthly fee of $9.99. It’s not a new model, but it could be a successful one, especially if the exclusive content is as entertaining as much of the brand’s marketing has been.

PornHub Can Barely Contain Excitement for TwerkingButt

PornHub is really excited about its new product innovation, the TwerkingButt. The collaboration with adult novelty manufacturer Topco Sales (which we’re relatively sure is not just an elaborate hoax) is backed by Cyberskin technology (which warms to body temperature) and features “multiple twerking patterns, customizable rhythms, massage speeds, sensual vibration, and simulated body heat.”

The device is controlled via an accompanying remote, or with a smartphone app, and also includes virtual reality goggles and 3-D content. On the TwerkingButt website, PornHub promises “the ultimate in cyber passion” while daring users to live out their wildest (wet) dreams. An accompanying video takes a lighthearted approach, presenting the “top secret program” that led to the development of the “revolutionary new product,” which mostly consists of goggle-wearing men and women in lab coats “working around the clock” watching live models twerk…and a lot of celebratory butt slapping. But all that twerking won’t come cheap; the Twerking Butt is being released in two versions, the $699 Classic and $999 Deluxe.

“We can barely contain our excitement for the new TwerkingButt,” PornHub vice president Corey Price told Adweek. “I think we can honestly say that the release of our new product will mark a new benchmark in the convergence of emerging technology and immersive pleasure to deliver one of the most lifelike sexual simulation experiences on the market today.”

Pornhub Gets Deep Into Virtual Reality Sex With Ridiculous Ad for the TwerkingButt™

Like any good marketer, Pornhub is getting into product innovation with a new app-powered, virtual-reality sex toy that the video streaming site says will “provide the ultimate experience in interactive cyber passion.”

It’s called the TwerkingButt™. Created with adult novelty manufacturer Topco Sales, it features “multiple twerking patterns, customizable rhythms, massage speeds, sensual vibrations and simulated body heat, which can all be custom controlled with the included remote or via your smart phone/tablet (Android or iOS),” Pornhub says.

It includes virtual reality goggles and 3-D content, and the app controls everything from motion to music. (You can sync the device’s movements to your playlist, for example.) It also has patented “CyberSkin” technology, which warms to a body temperature of 98.6 degrees, while “providing ideal levels of friction, elasticity and softness that’s as near to the human sexual experience as possible,” says the brand.

If that sounds scientific, the commercial for the thing is much more (sorry) tongue-in-cheek, featuring the kind of lighthearted, absurdist comedy for which the world’s most mainstream porn brand has become known.

“We can barely contain our excitement for the new TwerkingButt,” says Corey Price, vice president of Pornhub. “I think we can honestly say that the release of our new product will mark a new benchmark in the convergence of emerging technology and immersive pleasure to deliver one of the most lifelike sexual simulation experiences on the market today.”

It will put a dent in your wallet, though. When it hits retail shelves in August, it will cost $699 for the regular version and $999 for the deluxe.

Oh, and it has kind of a cute logo:

DDB Bolivia Uses Porn to Save Lives for Alcázar Gynecology Institute

DDB Bolivia launched a campaign for Alcázar Gynecology Institute back in October of 2014 that included uploading what it describes as the “first fake erotic video on Pornhub,” as outlined in the recently-released case study above.

The approach was based on the insight that traditional breast cancer awareness campaigns aren’t working and research indicating that 94.73 percent of men watch porn online. DDB Bolivia concluded that, given its large international audience, Pornhub was the perfect venue to teach men how to properly conduct a breast cancer examination. The video, entitled “Latin Boobs,” begins by masquerading as porn (with appropriate soundtrack) before informing viewers “This is not an erotic video.” The ad then goes on to explain to viewers that it has already shown them how to perform a breast cancer examination, and reiterates the steps necessary and what to look for, while hoping they aren’t too angry about the deception. As Adweek points out, the approach is a bit of a controversial one, since many cancer awareness activists oppose the sexualization of breast cancer. Still, they managed to inform a wide audience who otherwise might not have been reached about proper breast examination.

While they may have been the first, DDB Bolivia aren’t the only agency to harness the power of Pornhub for cancer prevention. Last month McCann Lima teamed up with porn actress Charlotte Stokely on a video advising men men on how to properly examine their testicles for cancer.

This Fake Erotic Video Uploaded to Pornhub Is Actually a PSA (but It's Still NSFW)

DDB has uploaded what it claims is the first fake erotic video on Pornhub. The video starts off porny and then morphs into a (still NSFW) PSA from the Alcázar Gynecology Institute, showing men how to perform a breast exam on their wives or girlfriends.

Traditional ads targeting women simply aren’t working, DDB says. And the agency points out that the potential reach of this approach is impressive—given Pornhub’s sizable audience and the fast that 94.73 percent of men watch porn online, according to research. (What portion of those don’t mind being tricked into watching else is another matter.)

And of course, there’s the further problem that this campaign blatantly sexualizes breast cancer, which is an approach many cancer activists despise.

Check out the case study below, which is NSFW. What do you think of the strategy here?

Pornhub Is Getting Into Wearable Tech With the Wankband. Yes, the Wankband

Pornhub is nothing if not savvy with its marketing, as seen in previous stunts like crowdsourcing a safe-for-work ad campaign and going big with a (short-lived) Times Square billboard. Now, the world’s most mainstream porn site is getting into the hotness of the moment—wearable tech—with something called the Wankband. Yep, that’s what it’s called.

Who knows if it will ever be made—they say it’s in beta testing, which they spell “beata testing.” And they are collecting email addresses from people who might want to own it eventually. (I’m sure those addresses will be used for no other reasons.)

Here’s the promo, which has well over 2 million YouTube views already:

And here’s how Pornhub is pitching it.

At Pornhub, we’re concerned about the amount of energy consumed by our users while enjoying the millions of hours of content we provide on our site. That’s why we’ve decided to pitch in to help save the environment by creating a revolutionary wearable tech device. Find out more about the Wankband and how you can create dirty energy at www.thewankband.com and sign up to become a Be(a)ta tester so you can find out how this amazing invention can help you save the planet.

Pornhub Marks Arbor Day by Planting a Tree for Every 100 Big-Wood Videos Watched

This Arbor Day season, Pornhub has found a new way to celebrate its commitment to giving America wood.

The adult site says it will plant a tree for every 100 videos watched in the site's "Big Dick" category. The "Pornhub Gives America Wood" promotion (landing page is porn-free) is part of an ongoing safe-for-work approach to marketing that has helped broaden Pornhub's buzz.

Recently, AdFreak covered Pornhub’s SFW amateur advertising contest, a witty repository of wink-wink-nudge-nudge visual puns.

But Pornhub is still fairly new to these kinds of promotions. For example, right now there's no telling where the trees are going. Not wanting to be premature, the site hasn’t chosen a partner to actually plant the trees (more than 13,000 of which have already been earned). Once this limited-time offer is over, Pornhub will choose among Arbor Day Foundation, Trees for the Future and American Forests.

You only have until midnight on May 2 to contribute, so if you love the earth, you better get to work getting off as soon as you get off work.
