Droga5 Group Account Director Leaves the Creative Agency World Forever(?)

Droga5 group account director Tamera Geddes is leaving the agency for a position as managing director for media buying and planning agency Noble People, MediaPost reports. Noble People’s client roster includes PayPal, Honest Tea, Fresh Direct and Venmo.

In the newly-created role, Geddes will focus on internal operations and new business. She joins an upper management team that includes W+K veterans Greg March and Lindsay Lustberg, as well as former CP+B executive Todd Alchin and Noble People’s Los Angeles president Jason Clement.

Geddes has spent the past nine months serving as group account director for Droga5, working on Diet Coke, Smartwater and Uniqlo.

Before joining Droga5 she spent nearly four years at W+K New York, arriving as a director of new business in June 2012, becoming account director for Gap in January of 2014. Prior to that she spent a little over a year client side as senior manager of global marketing communications at Levi Strauss & Co., following nine months as account supervisor on Audi at Venables Bell and Partners.

“There are only so many media people that have been inculcated in the creative process at the best agencies in the world,” March told MediaPost. “Working together at Wieden, there was no one better at making sure the media perspective was valued inside the creative process. Now she’ll make sure the creative perspective is intertwined in the media process.”

More Departures at TBWA

tbwa-worldwide

We’ve confirmed a couple more departures at TBWA‘s Los Angeles offices. In addition to yesterday’s news about executive director Jason Clement leaving the agency:

These are only the latest changes atop the TBWA\Chiat\Day LA team, most prominent among them being the appointment of Luis DeAnda to replace outgoing president Carisa Bianchi two weeks ago following a round of cuts that occurred back in March.

We have no word on where O’Neill is going or who will fill either of the now-vacant positions. Updates as we receive them.

TBWA, Tool Craft Passion Genome Campaign Extension for Nissan

nissangenome

TBWA\Chiat\Day LA and Tool have created a neat social extension of the TVC from a couple of months ago to promote the Nissan 2014 Versa Note.

The Passion Genome site allows users to “see the passions they share with their friends illustrated in a Passion Portrait, a personalized, interactive visualization of themselves.” How does that work exactly? Well, basically you link your Facebook account to the site so it can analyze your info and you choose a photo to represent yourself. It didn’t work so well for me, but then I don’t have any decent portrait shots on Facebook (my profile pic is currently a sloth astronaut).

Nissan seems very excited about the project as Jon Brancheau, VP/marketing for the automaker’s North American ops, says in a statement,”The Passion Genome displays passions and connections in an extraordinary and fascinating way, and we at Nissan can’t wait to see how it resonates with everyone who explores it.” The project was inspired by the idea that the 2014 Versa Note has a “sculpted, modern look” that “reflects the active lives of its target buyers.” That may be a bit of a stretch, but that’s no matter. People will share this on Facebook and spread awareness for Nissan. Especially because if you share your Passion Portrait on Facebook or Twitter (using the #PassionPortrait hashtag) you could win one of eight $1,000 gift cards from Amazon.com and have your portrait featured on PassionGenome.com. Go try it for yourself, and feel free to link to your Passion Portrait in the comments section. Credits after the jump.  continued…
