When the summer month approaches, you may not know whether to put a rug on your horse or not. As per the climate, it is essential that you rug your during cooler months and leave them bare during the hot, summer weather. However, many horse-owners opt for light-weight stable rugs in warmer months for several reasons. Take a look when you should go for these rugs.
When you want to save your animal from creepy-crawlies
Insects can be a serious problem and can lead to various skin diseases and rashes if you fail to protect your horse from them. This is when rugs come in handy! Horse owners often choose cotton tip-stop rugs to protect the stallion from sand flies. This rug covers the body completely, keeping the flies at bay. Additionally, owners also go for fly mesh rugs to keep the larger insects away. This also allows the flow of air.
When you want to protect the stallion’s coat from bleaching
Horse’s hair and mane must be protected to maintain its appearance. Coat bleaching in summer months is very common; hence, the owners opt for light-weight stable rugs to combat this problem. Unfortunately, if you do not protect the hair, it becomes lighter, rougher and duller. A light cotton rug or fly mesh will block the direct heat from reaching the animal’s body and let air flow. Many pick mesh or flat rug as it reflects the heat and aids in keeping the stallions cooler in hot weather. Combo-style rug and neck rug are also brilliant options.
When you want to save your animal from rain
It is not unnatural to experience rain in the summer months. Protecting your horse’s coat in the wet weather can be a real challenge. This is when you should purchase a rain sheet or an unlined canvas to save the animals from rain. Interestingly, these rugs are breathable which make them further comfortable to wear in hot, wet weather. Sometimes, owners put a light stable rug under the rain sheet to prevent the rain from reaching the horse’s body.
It is vital to pick the right kind of rug in the warmer months. By purchasing a light rug, you can make your horse feel more comfortable when he runs all around the field. Remember to maintain a balance between cool and light so that it does not hinder the flow of air. Keep these above-mentioned points in mind whilst getting a rug for your stallion.

Why are you into Advertising? I have a strong aversion to routine. The fact that each day in advertising holds something different is the main reason for me to be in this profession.
Did you attend school Communications School or BMM or Literature..? I did my BA in Journalism, and yes Literature was one of the subjects which I studied during the course of my under graduation.
What makes a good writer? It’s been 5 years since I’ve taken up writing as a profession. I will need a few more years of experience to answer this question with absolute confidence. As of now, I personally feel a good writer is one who keeps his/ her/ other writing simple, thoughtful and impactful.
How do winning awards impact careers in creative? As exploring different forms of creativity is the crux of what we do, works that win awards is nothing but the best manifestation of same. So yes, awards have some impact when it comes to a career in the creative industry.
Were there any particular role models for you when you grew up? A lecturer who taught us literature during my under graduation is one person I looked up to. His classes used to often be scheduled after lunch, and disinterest was natural. But the manner in which our lecturer would give life to the works of William Wordsworth or Shakespeare was simply admirable. Which also happened to be my first introduction to the art of storytelling.
Who was the most influential personality on your career in Advertising? The Copybook, Pandemonium and Confessions of an advertising man are a few books that I often go back from time to time. On a more practical note, creative directors under whom I have and continue to work are the most influential personalities when it comes to my career in advertising.
Where do you get your inspiration from? Mostly, I get my inspiration from things that unfold on a daily basis, in simpler terms, people. Apart from which, I truly admire works from The Minimalist. Their ability to simplify any complexity is indeed inspiring.
What do you think of the state of Print advertising right now. At least here in India, the released work is most often too sad? I think the last headline of a print ad that grabbed my attention was “Your highness, your SUV is here” – Mahindra Alturas. This was almost a year ago. Sadly, I don’t happen to come across eye-catching advertisements in print anymore. Also given the fact that most of us consume news/ information through digital platforms, print no longer feel enticing when compared to the past.
If there is one thing you could change in your place of work, what would that be? Absolutely nothing I am currently working for a creative studio named Creative Code. The energy, willingness to constantly experiment newer styles, flow of creative process and the people leading the show are just perfect.
Do you think brands who’s advertising wins awards, do well in the market? When I walk up to a store to pick up a beverage, I’d go for a coke. Also, the creative communications of the same brand constantly bags awards across the globe. Similarly, most brands I opt for echo the same. Maybe not all, but a majority of brands that win awards end up faring well in the market.
What advice do you have for aspiring creative professionals? Honestly, I am not in the phase wherein I could offer an advice. But what I can tell based out of my experience is, advertising is a fun place to be!
Who would you like to take out for dinner? Aditi Rao Hydari
What’s on your iPod? Spotify? Long compilation of deep house, psy-chill and lo-fi. Apart from that, Cold Play, Porcupine Tree, Greenday, Verve, REM, and many more.
